Port Allegany – Daniel Richard McCann, 79, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, at Olean General Hospital. Born on July 17, 1946, in Elmira, NY. Dan lived a life filled with love, laughter, friendship, and devotion to his family.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma Patton and Carl McCann. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Kay McCann; his sisters, Judy Poyneer and Jackie Root; and his cherished children, Shannon and Mike Kio, Griffin and Susan McCann, Jack and Hallie Gaddess, Lesa Miller, and Christopher Gaddess.

He was a proud grandfather to Kiersten and Chad Austin, Dane and Brianna Kio, Maggie Gaddess, Ellie Gaddess, and Josie Gaddess, and a loving great-grandfather to Avery, Alayna, Sage, Camden, and Casen.

A proud Vietnam veteran, Dan honorably served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he dedicated 38 years to his work as a mold maker with Saint-Gobain.  For many years, he was a proud member of the VFW Frank Burt 6391, the Loyal Order of the Moose 460 and the Smethport Country Club.

Angela Marie Green (née Altieri), 76, of Freeland, Maryland, passed away on May 10, 2025. Born on December 28, 1949, in Barton, New York, Angela lived a life centered on family, teaching, and quiet acts of love that touched everyone around her.

She grew up in Sayre, Pennsylvania, and later called Galeton, Pennsylvania, home before retiring and moving to Maryland. A proud graduate of Mansfield University, Angela earned her degree in elementary education and went on to serve as a dedicated special education teacher at Northern Potter Children’s School for 34 years. Her patience, warmth, and belief in every child’s potential left a lasting impression on generations of students and their families.

Janice M. “Jan” Stiles, 64, of Fairview Heights, Bradford, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at her residence. 

Born August 2, 1961, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Raymond J. and Doris  “Jeannie” (Raught) Tingley. 

Jan was a 1979 graduate of Limestone Union Free School District. 

On November 8, 1980, at the St. Patrick Church in Limestone, she married Douglas Stiles who survives. 

Jan had been employed at Care for Children, as a Preschool Aide for nearly 20 years.

Jan was a member of St. Bernard Church. She loved being with her kids, grandkids, hosting Sunday family dinners and loved doing her crafts.

March 1, 1947 — May 8, 2026

Linda L. Mawn, 79, of Center Street, passed away at Penn Highlands DuBois on Friday, May 8, 2026.

She was born on March 1, 1947, in Saint Marys, PA, a daughter of the late John and Dorothy Tucker Prechtl.

Linda dedicated many years of her life working for Buehler Lumber and for Help Mates, where she was known for her strong work ethic and kind heart. In her free time, she found joy in crocheting, playing cards with friends and loved ones, and most importantly, spending time with her family. She cherished every moment shared with those she loved and created countless memories that will be treasured forever. Her warmth, laughter, and caring spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Nancy Adair VAUGHAN, 87, formerly of Bath, NY, died Monday, March 2, 2026 in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, PA.  Born February 11, 1939, in Wellsville, NY, she was the daughter of Sewall and Augusta Kenyon Vaughan.  

A 1958 graduate of Cowanesque Valley High School, she earned a Bachelor of Science in secondary education from Mansfield University and a Master of Science degree in education from Alfred University in 1965.  She also held administrative degrees from the University of New York at Brockport.  Nancy taught Social Studies, English, Government, and Psychology, and served as a school administrator at Haverling Central School in Bath for 34 years, retiring in 1994.  

Nancy was active in civic affairs in Steuben County, serving on various boards and commissions, notably helping to found the Elm Cottage Museum and create a historic district in Bath, in her capacity as Bath Historic Commission Chairman for more than 20 years.  She was active in local Democratic politics, serving as a local committeeman, vice chairman of the County, and State Committeeman for the 127th Assembly District.  She was appointed by Gov. Mario Cuomo as a trustee at Corning Community College.  As a Democratic leader, she coordinated political campaigns in the area for Lyndon Johnson, Robert Kennedy, Mario Cuomo, Howard Samuels, and many others.  She held many leadership roles in the New York State Women’s political division.  She was the recipient of numerous awards for civic and professional services.  

Joyce A. KNEFLEY, 84, of Ulysses, PA, died Saturday, May 9, 2026, in her home surrounded by family.  Born April 6, 1942, in Binghamton, NY, she was the daughter of Jay William and Beatrice Martha Chaffee Dillenbeck.  

On March 11, 1967, in Binghamton, NY, she married J. Michael (Mike) Knefley, who survives.  A 1960 graduate of Greene Central School, Greene, NY, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education and English from Hartwick College in 1964.  Joyce was a lifelong educator and musician who taught in Windham, NY, and Imperial Beach, CA.  A devoted servant of the church, Joyce served in various roles during her life, including Minister of Music, choir director, pianist, and worship team member.  

In 1984, she and her husband, Mike, became owners/operators of Ski Denton at Denton Hill State Park.  Joyce’s leadership at Ski Denton spanned more than 20 years, marking a significant chapter of business and community involvement in North Central Pennsylvania.  Later, she became certified to teach English as a second language through Nyack College.  Together with her husband, Mike, Joyce used that certification to teach English to military officers in Peru, Costa Rica, and Mongolia.  She also traveled on mission trips to Hong Kong and China.  Joyce was a woman of strong faith in God with a steadfast belief in the power of prayer.  

Robert A. BURDICK, 89, of Coudersport, PA, died Monday, May 11, 2026 at his daughter’s home in Michigan.

Thomas Duane Fox, 84, of Duke Center, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2026, at his residence. 

Born in Olean, NY on August 1, 1941, he was a son of the late Paul and Helen (Asel) Fox.  

He was a 1960 graduate of Otto Eldred High School.

January 23, 1960, in East End Presbyterian Church he married Alice Jane (Siffrinn) Fox who survives.

Tom worked for over 40 years for Olean Lumber until his retirement in 2003.
He loved to ride snowmobiles and ATVs.  He was a member of the Enchanted Mountain Snowmobile Club and Traction ATV Club. Tom was also a member of Duke Center Masonic Star Lodge 55 F&AM, Otto Township Lions Club and the Little Nippers Booster Club.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 66 years, Jane, is one daughter, Janice (Chris) Holly, of Duke Center, two sons, Guy (Kira) Fox, of Syracuse, NY, and Jeff (Tina Turek) Fox, of Rixford, one brother, William Fox, of Olean, NY, six grandchildren, Brody Fox,  Ben (Allisyn) Fox, Tasha Fox, Tyler Turek, Korrie Turek, and Kia Turek, three great grandchildren, Henry Fox, Ellie Fox and  Ethan Fox,  one niece Paula (Scott) Derwick and one nephew, Bill (Sue) Fox.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister-in-law Sondra Fox. 

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 372 East Main Street, where at 1:00 pm funeral services will be held with, Rev. Rick Price, Pastor, Church of Christ, officiating.  Burial will be in Mckean Memorial Park.

Daniel R. McCann, 79, of Port Allegany, died Monday (May 11, 2026) at Olean General Hospital, Olean.

Kathleen Ann Tantalo, 80, of Bolivar Drive, Bradford, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Buffalo General Hospital surrounded by her son, Larry, and her daughter, Tracy. She was the last of her immediate family.

Born September 30, 1945, in Bradford, she was a daughter of Norman E. “Red” Runyan and Hazel A (Gardner) Runyan. She graduated from Bradford Area High School, Class of 1963.

On September 30,1989, in Bradford, she married Louis J. Tantalo Sr. who passed away October 28, 2014.

She was previously employed by JC Penny Company, Pennzoil Company and retired from the McKean County Assistance office in 2002 with 30 plus years of service. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees and a member of the St. Bernard Church.

Surviving are two sons, Larry D. (Sandy) Vecellio Jr., of Buford GA and Augie (Marguss) Tantalo of Tempe AZ. one daughter, Tracy E. (Steven) Colosimo of Bradford, three grandsons, Kyle S. Colosimo of Bradford, Nicholas F. Colosimo of Bradford, and Cody (Laurie) Tantalo of Denver CO, three granddaughters, Kristen B. Spires of GA, Briana N. Vecellio of GA and Brooke Jones (Jason) of Bellingham, WA, four great-grandsons, Landon M. Spires of GA, Leighton A. Spires of GA, Lian H. Spires of GA and Cole H. Jones of Bellingham WA, two great-granddaughters, Alaya R. Vecellio of GA and Sylvie J. Jones of Bellingham WA, one daughter-in-law, Debbie Tantalo of Bradford, and several  nieces and nephews, as well as her beloved, furry companion “Louie”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Louis of 37 years, one brother Norman E. Runyan Jr, one sister Judith A. (Charles) Hultman, one son, Joseph Tantalo and one nephew, Norman E.  “Cub” Runyan, III.

Claire Marie ERNST, 95, of Port Allegany, PA, died Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.  Born July 9, 1930, in Hi-Nella, NJ, she was the daughter of Robert and Agnes Kelley McBurney.  

On December 24, 1952, in Phoenixville, she married Fred Wilson Ernst Jr., who predeceased her on December 2, 1993.  She was employed as a medical secretary by Cole Memorial Hospital and by medical offices in Olean, NY.  Claire was a member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Church in Port Allegany.  

Surviving are: two sons, Fred W. (Virginia “Ginger”) Ernst III of Port Allegany and D. Clifford (Myra) Ernst of Littleport, Cambridgeshire, UK; a son-in-law, James Sawyer of Culpeper, VA; eight grandchildren, Hannah (Aaron) Olney, Katherine (Robert) Whittle, Cleon Coussens, Jenai (Jack) Ryan, Tate (Jaime) Coussens, Annie (Brynn) Hardison, Zachary Sawyer, and Elleanor Sawyer; ten great-grandchildren; longtime friend, Louis “Hank” Maroda of Pittsburgh; nieces and nephews.  

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Dana C. Ernst; a sister, Jean Burger; and three brothers, Robert Jr., William, and Milan.
