PennDOT, Highway Safety Network Celebrate “Love the Bus” at Clearfield Elementary School

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation(PennDOT) and the Highways Safety Network (HSN) celebrated “Love the Bus,” a program highlighting the importance of school bus drivers in education, at Clearfield Elementary School on Thursday.

“This is one of many programs organized by PennDOT throughout the state to promote traffic safety,” said PennDOT Safety Press Officer Steve Harmic. “We often stress that safety is everyone’s responsibility, and we educate other drivers on what they need to do when they approach a school bus during their morning commute. With this program, we stress to the children the things they can do to keep themselves safe while on the bus, and while getting on and off the bus, and remind them to appreciate their bus drivers for the service they provide.”  

Johnsonburg, Pa.:  Foxes were the weigh-in harvests on Saturday at Rolfe Beagle Club’s Statewide Coyote and Fox Hunt or Trap, after a slight uptick in the weather.  Zachary Geyer of Ridgway brought his first harvest to the weigh station, a female red fox weighing in at 10.0#.  “The foxes were after our ducks and chickens, and I was finally able to stop the losses,” said Zach.  Zachary harvested the fox at 1:00 a.m. on Friday on private lands in Elk County.  Zach shoots a .222 rifle with a thermal scope.  He uses a Primos electronic call and for this particular fox, called it in with a “chicken in distress’ call.

Ab Aikens, from Emporium, also brought in a red fox, weighing in at 9.8# he had harvested Friday evening around 10:00 p.m.  The male fox was harvested on private lands in Cameron County.  Ab shoots a .22-.250 rifle with a thermal scope, and uses a FoxPro electronic call.

Celebrate Crafts and Cuisine This Saturday in Wellsboro 
This Weekend in Wellsboro there will be a free program on cougars,  the last three performances of “Miss Holmes Returns;” free, live, flameworking demonstrations, free hot cocoa in the Deane Center lobby, free ice-skating,  and local artisans and culinary delights.  

Gyekis to Present Cougars: What’s Real and What Isn’t? at Nessmuk’s Sporting Goods  Feb. 21 
At 6 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 21 at Nessmuk’s Sporting Goods at 91 Main Street in Wellsboro, Kerry Gyekis, an author, forester and investigator for the Cougar Rewilding Foundation, will present a free program for the public on his investigation into mountain lions in the Eastern United States. For more than 42 years, Gyekis has traveled across America in his quest for the truth about the mountain lion also known as a cougar, puma and panther. He will discuss hoaxes,  sightings, evidence, tracks, tracking and the biology of the species. Preregistration is not required.

ZB Importing Issue Voluntary Recall and Allergy Alert on Undeclared Egg, Wheat and Milk in Certain Ulker Brand Products

ZB Importing LLC is voluntarily recalling certain lots of six varieties of Ulker Brand snack rolls, biscuits, and wafers due to undeclared wheat, egg and/or milk in the Ingredient List and/or Contains Statement on the product labels. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat, egg, or milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Products were distributed through retail stores in Ontario, Canada and the following US states AL, AR, CA, CT, CO, DC, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, NE, NC, NH, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, WA, WI and WV.

This mislabeling was discovered following receipt of a single consumer complaint involving an allergic reaction. The issue originated from a supplier who inadvertently failed to fully disclose all allergens while translating the ingredient list. We are actively working with the supplier to implement stricter labeling controls, including an additional verification process for multilingual labels.
