Beacon Light Behavioral Health Launches Teen Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program
Beacon Light Behavioral Health (BLBHS), an affiliate of Journey Health System, is proud to announce the launch of its new teen psychiatric rehabilitation program, Horizons. This program is designed to provide a fun, safe, and structured environment for teens to focus on their mental health care. The program is tailored specifically for youth in Forest & Warren Counties, ages 14 to 18-years old, to provide them with the opportunity to engage in meaningful care while they aim to address the growing mental health needs of Pennsylvania’s young people.
A 2023 Pennsylvania Youth Survey showed that 37.3% of 6th to 12th graders in Pennsylvania felt sad or depressed most days in the past 12 months. 16.1% have seriously considered suicide. This demonstrates the importance of accessible and effective mental health programs like Horizons.
Group sessions are held after school, three days per week. During the summer, they’re held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Beacon Light Behavioral Health Outpatient Clinic at 1885 Market Street in Warren, Pennsylvania.
Horizons is led by a team of mental health experts that offer evidences based skill building around mental wellness and life skills. They offer help to teens with a wide range of mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, and substance use disorder. By helping them with these concerns in the classes they are able to provide pre-adult preparation and coping skills.
“Life is full of possibilities, especially in the teen years. But those possibilities can feel daunting and overwhelming when struggling with poor mental health,” stated Gabriel Magill, BLBHS Director of Recovery Services. “Horizons’ goal is to support teens in building life skills to support them in life-long mental wellness while taking advantage of their many possibilities available to them as they step into adulthood.”
Beacon Light Behavioral Health System is dedicated to providing comprehensive mental health services to individuals of all ages. With a focus on personalized care and evidence-based treatments. BLBHS strives to enhance the well-being of the communities it serves.
