Robert Wayne Lyle, 89, of Wellsboro, went to meet his Savior on Thursday morning, May 29, 2025, at The Green Home, Wellsboro. He was born June 2, 1935, in Houston, TX, the son of the late Robert “Bobbie” Lyle, Jr. and Linna L. (Carpenter) Lyle and would have celebrated his 90th birthday on Monday. He married the former Naomi Fay Moses on November 23, 1956, and celebrated 65 years of marriage until her passing on August 4, 2022.

Robert was raised in DeRidder, LA and graduated from DeRidder High School. He was ordained through The Assemblies of God, having received his degree through the Berean School of the Bible, and served as pastor of several churches during his life. While raising their young girls, Robert was self-employed as a general contractor specializing in gutter sales and volunteered as an area commander of the Royal Rangers, an Asssemblies of God scouting program, for boys, which brought him great joy.

Later in life, he worked at Walmart for 25+ years, both in Bossier City, LA & Mansfield, PA. Robert & Naomi moved to Wellsboro, PA as senior citizens and became members of the Crossroads Family Worship Center. In recent years, Robert attended Mt. Zion Full Gospel Church, both churches pastored by his sons-in-law.

He was an avid advocate for the Pro-Life movement and was passionate for the rights of the unborn. He was also passionate about encouraging people to read the bible.  Robert was also very proud of his three daughters for attending Bible College and serving in the ministry.

Robert is survived by his daughters: Karen Faye (Kent) Fowler of Wellsboro; Melissa Diane (Almon) Peters of Troy; Rachel Elaine (Carl) Linscott of Wellsboro; grandchildren: Justin James Fowler, Jason Kent Fowler, Nicole Renae Linscott, Kyle Brandon (Taylor) Linscott, Summer Cherie Promise (Patrick) Smith; Great grandchildren: Titus Gabriel Smith, Sidon Joseph Smith,  Landon Fontenot (step-great grandson) , Donovan Michael Linscott, Charley Rae Renée Linscott, Ashley William Linscott, Coraline Jones Linscott & one on the way.

In addition to his wife and parents, Robert was preceded in death by a brother, John D. Lyle, a sister, Gloria June Lyle, a grandchild, a great grandson, Jethro David Smith, and several other great grandchildren, all of whom he will be happy to meet in heaven.

Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 3-4pm at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main St., Wellsboro. A funeral service will follow at 4pm, with his son-in-law Kent Fowler, officiating.
