ANNOUNCEMENT TO ALL COMING TO THE FARMER AND ARTISAN MARKET UNTIL THE RENOVATIONS ARE COMPLETED, beginning the week of June 15th, the Potter County Farmers Market and Artisan Market will be relocated to the corner of the courthouse lawn. The Market will remain there until the renovation plan is completed. 

The Potter County Farmers Market will be outdoors on the the courthouse lawn, every Friday from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm.  Market will also be held on Saturday, if vendors are available, from 11 am to 3 pm. The next market weekend will be this Friday, July 10th and Saturday, July 11th. Below is a list of who plans to be there and what they plan on bringing to the Market:

On July 9th Bradford City Ambulance and Derrick City Fire Department were dispatched to 304 Olean Rd. for a one vehicle rollover crash with no entrapment and unknown injuries

Do you remember when you could hardly wait to grow older? Getting a driver’s license, staying out later, or reaching the next big birthday all seemed to fit into one eager phrase: “I can’t wait until I’m ____ so I can ____.” Somewhere along the way, that kind of anticipation begins to slow down. Life still brings milestones, but they often feel different from the ones we dreamed about as children or teenagers. In young adulthood, many of us become absorbed in work, family, and daily responsibilities. Important moments still happen—the birth of a child, a new season of life, or a long-awaited retirement—but we may not stop to think about them in the same way.

Ardagh Group is celebrating 130 years of glass manufacturing at its plant in Port Allegany this year. Rep. Martin Causer (R-Cameron/McKean/Potter) presented company leadership and employees with a special certificate from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in recognition of this impressive milestone.

Gregory L. LOSEY, 57, of Batavia, NY, died Sunday, July 5, 2026, in his home.  Born November 6, 1968, in Hornell, he was the son of Victor A. and Shirley Higgins Losey.  

On September 2, 1995, in Bath, he married Janette M. Hallock, who survives.  He attended Greenwood Elementary School and graduated in 1987 from Corning East High School, where he played lacrosse and was nicknamed Wheels for his fast running.  He earned a degree in animal husbandry from Alfred State College and worked at dairy farms.  

Beginning in 1990, he was employed by Carpet Town Furniture / Ashley Furniture, working his way up from warehouse worker to VP of Warehousing & Distribution, retiring in 2026 with 36 years of service. 

If Greg could help someone resolve an issue, that made his day.  He was a planner and knew what he wanted to do.  An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He played euchre and Mexican train with “the six pack.”  Greg loved spending time with his family.  

Surviving besides his wife, Jan, are: two children, Jason Greeley of Portville and Janelle (Jeremias) Gomez of Spencerport; four grandchildren, Kamerrin, Kaleigh, Taylor, and Zayne; two great-grandchildren, Faith and Paislee; three brothers, Duane (Connie) Losey of Quakertown, PA, Michael Losey of Michigan, Jeff (Gina) Losey of Plainfield, IL; sisters-in law, Janet Losey and Kathy Losey; brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Hallock; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; his step-mother, Catherine “Cathy” Losey; and six step-siblings.  

He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Vickie Losey, and two brothers, Dennis Losey and Scott Losey.  A private graveside service will be Genesee Cemetery, Genesee, PA.  Greg’s family would like to extend thanks to the doctors, nurses, and support staff from Lipson Cancer Institute at UMMC Batavia, with special thanks to Dr. Jones.

Summer in North Central Pennsylvania is a great time to be outside, whether you’re working in the yard, tending a garden, floating on the river, riding bike on a rail trail, or cheering on a game. But along with all that activity after a winter and spring hibernation, I tend to see more patients coming in with back pain this time of year.

One of the most common things I hear is, “My back hurts. What should I do?” And the honest answer is, it depends. Not all back pain is the same, and it shouldn’t all be treated the same way.

In many cases, back pain is what we call “mechanical.” That means it’s related to the muscles, joints, or ligaments often from lifting something awkwardly, twisting the wrong way, or overdoing it with repetitive tasks. The good news is that this type of pain is very common, and in most cases, it improves with the right approach.

 USDA Makes $500 Million Available for Fertilizer Investment and Expansion Program

(Washington, D.C., July 8, 2026) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced that Rural Development is accepting applications for the Fertilizer Investment & Expansion for Long-term Domestic Supply (FIELDS) Program. The program will provide United States farmers with more access to domestic fertilizer for producing agricultural commodities.

It’s that time again for the Turtlepoint Farmers Market! Happening Saturday, July 11th, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Stop by and meet local vendors, farmers and growers from our area! You’ll find a wonderful variety of goods including fresh produce, homemade breads, Amish baked goods and much more!

Mammy’s Market will be on site with plenty of fresh produce, and accepts the Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) checks issued through the Office of Aging, as well as WIC participants.
