UPMC Magee-Womens Welcomes New Physician to Coudersport

Coudersport, Pa., July 13, 2026 – UPMC Cole is expanding access to high-quality women’s health services as a cornerstone of its regionalized approach to care with the addition of Steven Smith, M.D., to the UPMC Magee-Womens team in Coudersport.
“Dr. Smith has a passion for rural medicine and is a trusted physician in the Wellsboro community whose expertise will further strengthen the care available to women across our region, including Potter County,” said Ethan Gable, M.D., division chief, UPMC Magee-Womens of UPMC Cole and UPMC Wellsboro. “We’re pleased to welcome him to our team in Coudersport, and his arrival reflects our continued investment in building a strong, sustainable network of women’s health services that will serve our communities well into the future.”
Dr. Smith specializes in obstetrics and gynecology and is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He completed his medical education at University of Kentucky College of Medicine, Lexington, Ky., and residency training at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Va. Dr. Smith serves as the medical director for UPMC Magee-Womens of UPMC Wellsboro.
As part of UPMC Magee-Womens, the obstetrics, gynecology, maternal fetal medicine and women’s specialty teams in north central Pennsylvania work closely with providers and experts across all UPMC hospitals to provide expert care, regardless of location. Patients can expect advanced treatment options for women and their babies tailored to care for every condition they might face throughout their lifetime.
