Investigation Concludes No Crime Occurred


Debra Larson, 66, of Jo Jo Road, passed away Wednesday (Dec. 10) at her residence following a long illness. Born Oct. 4, 1959 in Kane, she is the daughter of Gloria Jean (Gower) Bush and the late Larry Bush. She married Randy Larson, who survives, on Sept. 26, 1998 at Evergreen Park in Kane.
Deb was employed at UPS for 28 years and Hamlin Bank for 26 years. She also worked many other local jobs throughout her life. She was a member of the Kane Eagles, the Kane VFW the Wilcox Legion and the Wilcox Sportsman Club.
In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by one daughter Brandi Nicklas of Warren; two sisters, Terri Bifano of Shippenville and Kelly (Tom) Zampogna of St. Marys; one brother, Dave (Maria) Bush of Hilton Head, NC; a step daughter, Christie Larson of Grove City; a grandson Dominic (Sami) Nicklas and a granddaughter Chevelle Nicklas and four geat-grandchildren.

Michael S. Johnston, 71, of Kersey, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
He was born on December 4, 1954 in New Castle, PA, a son of the late Norman Johnston, Sr. and Margaret Baker Johnston.
On November 12, 1993, he married Diane Ruth Johnston, who survives of Kersey. Together they shared more than 32 years of marriage.

Lori Ann Algoso, 51, of Coudersport, PA passed away surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
Born on June 24, 1974, in Coudersport, Lori was the daughter of the Donna Meacham-Roberts (Darwin Roberts) and the late Garrett Hurd. She was the wife of Michael Algoso.
Lori was the proud and loving mother of Jennifer Waterman (deceased), Alyssa Mahon, McKenzie Hurd, and Dyani Algoso. She is also survived by her siblings Sharon Elliott (deceased) James (Tammie) Gross; Wanda (James) Allen, Michael Gross; and Garrett (Denise) Hurd.
A cherished grandmother, Lori leaves behind two grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life: Hadley and Matthew. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
Lori will be remembered for her strength, compassion, and unwavering love for her family. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home in Shinglehouse, PA, is announcing his Candlelight Service of Remembrance at 5pm on Saturday, December 20, 2025, which will take place in front of his funeral home at 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse.

District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that charges have been filed against an individual related to the death a Bradford teen who was killed when the ATV on which he was a passenger entered the roadway and crashed into a passing vehicle. Charges include Homicide by Vehicle, Involuntary Manslaughter, Failing to Yield, and other charges. No additional information is able to be provided at this time due to the age of the person charged

Olean- Pasquale “Pat” J. Piccirillo
With heavy hearts, Pasquale J. Piccirillo’s family announces his passing on Friday, December 5, 2025. He was surrounded by the love of family at home as he completed his earthly journey and was reunited with loved ones in Heaven.
Pasquale was born on October 7, 1937, in Olean, NY to John and Mary (Battista) Piccirillo.
Pat attended Olean High School. At age 70, he earned his High School Equivalency Diploma and received a certificate for an essay about his father.

Smethport – Peggy L. Ford, 77, of Smethport, passed away Wednesday (December 10, 2025) at Olean General Hospital, after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 21, 1948 in Salamanca, NY, the daughter of Stewart Goodwill and Rena (Mattison) Goodwill-Baney. On February 27, 1971, in the United Methodist Church of Smethport, she married Truman H. Ford, who survives.
Peggy was a graduate of Smethport Area High School Class of 1967. She was a homemaker, tending to the needs of her family. She also was a longtime baby sitter for many families over the years.
