What does rest look like? Are there different kinds of rest? Could we be seeking rest that doesn’t give us rest but instead causes further stress and discontent? What might true rest look like, the kind God talks about? Jeremiah 31:25 says, “For I have given rest to the weary and joy to the sorrowing.” This would certainly imply that rest comes from God, or at least that true rest does.

I believe we sometimes see rest as taking a nap or reading a book. I’m sure those things and more can give us rest in different ways, but are they the true rest we need, or only respite from the day-to-day stress we battle? Could it be that there’s a deeper rest we are missing, one that only comes from our Creator? Medical professionals will tell you that stress is a killer, yet how many of us allow the bad stress in life to cripple and destroy our peace and tranquility? Yes, you read that correctly. There is good stress and there is bad stress. In other words, some stress is good, but how do we know the difference? Part of the answer lies in how long the stress lasts. Good stress doesn’t last. It’s the kind of stress that motivates and energizes, whereas bad stress lingers and becomes heavy. Instead of giving us energy, it takes it away.

I’m reminded of the words of Jesus in Matthew 10:33, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Stress is often the byproduct of seeking what we think we need or want but don’t have. Jesus simply says to seek him and not worry about the other stuff, because he will supply it as we need it. It seems like a simple way to live. So why don’t we do it? Perhaps because the world has programmed us to live differently. We strive for what we want and what we don’t have. We seek after that which will perish and not last. Every day we get up for stuff, none of which will fulfill our deepest needs. We’re about doing, when God says simply be. Perhaps that’s where we start. Think about it.

Allentown, PA – Motorists are advised that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) in coordination with Bridging Pennsylvania Developers I (BPD-I) will reopen the Interstate 80 westbound Ramp B off-ramp to Route 940 as part of the I-80 Lehigh River Bridge Project.

The ramp, which has been closed since March 2026 for reconstruction on the Lehigh River Bridge Project, will reopen to traffic on the evening of July 23, 2026, weather permitting.

(MCKEAN COUNTY, Pennsylvania:  July 21, 2026):  District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports on the medication drop boxes location throughout McKean County. The boxes are for the benefit of anyone who wants to get rid of unused medication.  Each quarter, a County Detective with the District Attorney’s Office empties the boxes and arranges for their destruction by a member of the National Guard as part of a state-wide initiative to reduce access to opiates.  The medication drop boxes are located inside the Kane Municipal Building, Bradford Township Municipal Building, City of Bradford Police Department and McKean County Sheriff’s Department.  The boxes were sponsored by the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Association and PA American Water Company.  A box is also located at the Pennsylvania State Police-Lewis Run barracks.  The weight of the drugs collected at each of the boxes this quarter was as follows: Kane = 6.5 lbs.; Bradford Township = 16.5 lbs.; McKean County Sheriff’s Office = 24 lbs.; City of Bradford Police = 83.5 lbs.; PA State Police = 3 lbs. BRADFORD, Pa. — The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford has named two new leaders to its senior leadership team: Dr. Jessica Kubiak as vice president and dean of academic affairs for Pitt-Bradford and Pitt-Titusville and Dr. Andrew Peterson as vice president and dean of student affairs.

Volunteers at Christmas House are preparing for one of their most important missions – sending children back to school with new shoes. HARRISBURG – Legislation sponsored by Pennsylvania Anti-Human Trafficking (AHT) Caucus Chairman Sen. Cris Dush (R-25) aimed at helping the Pennsylvania attorney general and law enforcement more effectively target and prosecute human trafficking was signed into law today.

Requested and fully supported by the Office of Attorney General, Act 41 of 2026 relocates most prostitution offenses to the human trafficking section of the state Crimes Code, enhances the penalties for several of those offenses and places these offenses under the enforcement jurisdiction of the Office of Attorney General.

Relay Peak Research LLC (Zen Principle Naturals) of Incline Village, NV is voluntarily recalling its Zen Principle® brand Moringa Capsules dietary supplement because the product has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The product was distributed nationwide from December 2025 through July 2026, sold to consumers online primarily through Amazon.com and the company’s website, zenprinciple.com. Additionally, one unit was sold on eBay and one unit on Etsy.

The recalled product is Zen Principle® brand Moringa Capsules, 180 capsules packaged in a plastic bottle. The lot number (Lot A6FF4) and Best By date (11/2028) are printed on the bottom of the bottle. The product is offered as a 1-pack (180 capsules; Amazon code/FNSKU X000ZJJ4FT) and as a 2-pack (twin pack, 360 capsules; Amazon code/FNSKU X00159YJXP). No other products are impacted.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

Taylor Farms de Mexico of Guanajuato, Mexico is voluntarily removing all iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico from the U.S. market, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Cyclospora. Most people infected with Cyclospora develop diarrhea, with frequent bowel movements. Other common symptoms include loss of appetite, weight loss, stomach cramps/pain, bloating, increased gas, nausea, and fatigue. Vomiting, body aches, headache, and fever may be noted. Some people who are infected with Cyclospora do not have any symptoms. If not treated, the illness may lead to dehydration and severe complications that may require higher levels of care. These complications may last from a few days to a month or longer. Symptoms may seem to go away and then return one or more times (relapse). Immunocompromised persons may experience more severe illness of longer duration along with complications requiring close medical attention.

This action was prompted by the multistate Cyclospora outbreak https://www.fda.gov/food/outbreaks-foodborne-illness/investigation-5-state-outbreakcyclospora-illnesses-iceberg-lettuce-july-2026. We are actively removing the implicated products. The company has stopped receiving product from the implicated lot, suspended distribution of the iceberg lettuce from Central Mexico, notified our customers, and we are continuing to work with the FDA, CDC, and state authorities.

The shredded iceberg product was distributed June 29th thru July 16th in AL, AR, CT, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, MO, MS, NC, NH, NJ, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, and WI.

Absent from Pennsylvania for over 60 years, the federal and state endangered piping plover, a small shorebird, has made a comeback at Presque Isle State Park in Erie. Federal, state and local officials came together at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center in Erie this past weekend for “Pennsylvania Piping Plover Fest,” a celebration of the shorebird’s ten consecutive years of nesting in the Commonwealth.

“Although our small population is extremely fragile, the Pennsylvania Game Commission and our team of partners are unwavering in our commitment to ensuring these remarkable birds endure for generations to come,” said Cathy Haffner, PGC Wildlife Biologist and Piping Plover Recovery Coordinator.
