Patching

• Route 6 between Robert’s Road in Sweden Township and the McKean-Potter County line in Roulette Township. Monday, July 20, through Friday, July 24. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours and may deploy a pilot vehicle. When encountering a pilot vehicle with a “Pilot Car Follow Me” sign mounted on the rear and a revolving yellow light, drivers must remain behind it until it has left the roadway. Do not pass.

Bridge Maintenance & Cleaning

• Route 346 at a bridge spanning an unnamed Tributary of Foster Brook in Foster Township. Monday, July 20, through Friday, July 24. PennDOT implemented a single-lane closure governed by a self-regulated stop on July 2, that will remain in place until work is completed.

Pennsylvania has some of the oldest bridges in the country, with an with an average age of more than 50 years. Preventive maintenance is vital in extending the life of the structures. As such, PennDOT maintenance crews perform some bridge deck patching and structural repairs.

On July 18, 2026, at approximately 0827 hours, a City of Bradford Police Department officer encountered an individual sleeping under the Forman St. overpass.

The individual, later identified as a 27-year-old male, was attempting to conceal his identity by covering his face with a red bag. Upon removal of the bag, the officer recognized the individual and advised him of an outstanding arrest warrant.

Due to the individual’s failure to comply with verbal commands, the officer activated his Taser 7 and ordered him to the ground. The individual was subsequently placed in handcuffs and transported to the Bradford City Police Department. During a pat-down search at the police department, a small baggie of marijuana was discovered in the individual’s front left jean pocket. The individual was taken into custody and held in a cell at the police department.

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Shinglehouse Borough Water Department will be shutting off the Borough water immediately on Monday July 20, 2026 for repairs to a main line. Please plan accordingly for water usage beforehand.

Loss of water system Pressure:
If the distribution system experiences a loss of positive pressure, a PN (Public Notice) must be issued. The PWS cannot lift the PN/Boil Advisory until 2 sufficient clean bacteriological samples have been collected and analyzed. Verification after water main repairs where the main was depressurized or partially dewatered: one set of samples is collected that is representative of the affected area to ensure that the water is safe to consume. Once the samples are found to be satisfactory, the PWS may lift the PN/Boil Advisory. The Shinglehouse Borough will publish a notification when you no longer need to boil your water for consumption after the repairs. You DO NOT need to boil your water before the repairs. As stated above, we need to have 2 sufficient clean bacteriological samples that have been collected and analyzed. Before we can announce and lift the boil advisory. Please plan to boil your water until Wednesday July 22, 2026.

What should I do? After the water line repair:
DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a rolling boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using; or use bottled water. You should use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice. Inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms. These organisms include bacteria, viruses, and parasites, which can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and associated headaches. These symptoms, however, are not caused only by organisms in drinking water, but also by other factors. If you experience any of these symptoms and they persist, you may want to seek medical advice.

Guardians of infants and young children and people at increased risk, such as pregnant women, some of the elderly, and people with severely compromised immune systems, should seek advice from their health care advisors about drinking this water. General guidelines on ways to lessen the risk of infection by microbes are available from EPA’s Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1 (800) 4264791.

On July 17, 2026, Taylor Farms de Mexico announced that they are voluntarily removing all iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico from the U.S. market. Taylor Farms also informed FDA that they would initiate a recall. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

Consumers should avoid eating shredded iceberg lettuce from Mexico at Taco Bell locations in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia. 

Symptoms of Cyclospora Infection

Most people infected with Cyclospora develop diarrhea, with frequent bowel movements. Other common symptoms include loss of appetite, weight loss, stomach cramps/pain, bloating, increased gas, nausea, and fatigue. Vomiting, body aches, headache, and fever may be noted. Some people who are infected with Cyclospora do not have any symptoms. If not treated, the illness can lead to dehydration and severe complications that may require higher levels of care. These complications may last from a few days to a month or longer. Symptoms may seem to go away and then return one or more times (relapse). Immunocompromised persons may experience more severe illness of longer duration along with complications requiring close medical attention.

Rural Development published the updated 2026 income limits for the Single‑Family Housing Guaranteed Loan Program on July 13, 2026, through a Procedure Notice (PN).
