Potter County Farmers Market
ANNOUNCEMENT TO ALL COMING TO THE FARMER AND ARTISAN MARKET UNTIL THE RENOVATIONS ARE COMPLETED, beginning the week of June 15th, the Potter County Farmers Market and Artisan Market will be relocated to the corner of the courthouse lawn. The Market will remain there until the renovation plan is completed.
The Potter County Farmers Market will be outdoors on the the courthouse lawn, every Friday from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Market will also be held on Saturday, if vendors are available, from 11 am to 3 pm. The next market weekend will be this Friday, July 3rd and Saturday, July 4th. Below is a list of who plans to be there and what they plan on bringing to the Market:

Jocelyn K. “Jo” Sherwood, 91, of Ceres, PA
Jocelyn K. Sherwood “beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother”
Jocelyn K. “Jo” Sherwood, 91, of Ceres, PA, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, in the Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY, after a long illness.
Born on Monday, May 13, 1935 in Ceres, PA, she was a daughter of Frank and Ina Ferguson King. On March 31, 1957 in the Ceres United Methodist Church, she married Lewis “Ed” Sherwood, who survives.
Jo was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School, Class of 1953. She was a member of the Ceres United Methodist Church having held several offices over the years. She was the sexton of the Evergreen Cemetery in Ceres, PA which she ran for over 50 years. She was very involved with the Harvest dinners and the Ham and Leek dinners that were held at the Ceres Community Center. Jo enjoyed playing cards and had a card club with her friends for over 40 years, playing once a week.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 69 years, Ed; a daughter, Julie S. Ayers of Ceres, PA; a son, Jeffery E. Sherwood; two granddaughters, Lindsey Childs and Amber Kilmer; a great-grandson, Gary Mann; a brother, James (Lyn) King of Milton, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jo was predeceased by a sister, Marie Paynter.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services at 11am on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Ceres United Methodist Church, School Street, Ceres with Pastor Jason King of the Friendship Baptist Church of Watsontown, Jo’s nephew, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Ceres, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jo’s name may be made to the Ceres United Methodist Church, PO Box 34, Ceres, NY 14721 or to the Oswayo Valley Memorial Library, PO Box 188, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.

Three Arrested For Drug Chargea In Olean
On June 26th, 2026 at approximately 0445 hours, the Olean Police Department’s Emergency Response Team executed a narcotics search warrant at 316 Main St after a narcotics investigation was conducted by members of the Street Crimes Unit. As a result, Carlos Corbin of 316 Main St Olean, NY, DeShawn Gray Jr of 162 Bennett St Buffalo, NY, and Jae’Andra Garcia of 2228 Old Union Rd Cheektowaga, NY were arrested and each charged with CPCS-3rd Narcotic Drug with Intent to Sell and CPCS-4th Possession of Narcotic Drug. Members of the Cattaraugus County Special Response Team and Southern Tier Regional Task Force assisted the Olean Police Department.

WOMAN ARRESTED BY MCKEAN COUNTY DRUG TASK FORCE TO STATE PRISON FOR SELLING METHAMPHETAMINE
District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that one of the women arrested by the McKean County Drug Task Force during an investigation into drug trafficking in the area was sentenced by the judge last Thursday.
Kortney BUNDY was sentenced on June 25th to a period of incarceration of not less than 12 months to not more than 24 months to be served in state prison and 24 months concurrent probation for delivering methamphetamine (felony). BUNDY was ordered by pay restitution to the McKean County Drug Task Force, submit a DNA sample, and other terms.
Christopher R. “Chris” Baker, 46, of Eldred, formerly of Roulette
Christopher R. Baker “beloved father, son, brother and uncle”
ELDRED, PA—Christopher R. “Chris” Baker, 46, of Eldred, formerly of Roulette, passed away in his home with his loving family by his side on Monday, June 29, 2026.
Born on Wednesday, December 19, 1979 in Coudersport, he was a son of Roger L. Baker and Holly J. Phillips Baker Carpenter. On June 9, 2015 in Shinglehouse, he married Heather L. Siebert, who passed away on November 19, 2015.
Chris was a graduate of Port Allegany High School. In 2001, Chris began his employment as a sales representative for Fairway Ford in Bradford until 2005. He then was employed as finance manager for Ed Schultz in Jamestown returning to Bradford in 2015 where he served as general manager of Bradford Dodge and Fairway Ford.
Work was Chris’ hobby. His life was devoted to his son, Wyatt and his daughter, Brandi.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Holly Carpenter of Eldred; his son, Wyatt L. Baker, at home; his daughter, Brandi; two brothers, Jason L. Baker of Bradford and Joseph S. (Heather) Baker of Eldred; his cherished nieces and nephews, Michael Baker, Seth (Brelynn) Bigley, Emily Baker, Charlotte “Charlie” Baker, and Sophia Baker; and two grandnieces, Payton Bigley and Suede Bigley.
In addition to his father and wife, Chris was predeceased by a sister, Laura B. Baker; and a brother, Michael B. Baker.
Family and friends may gather from 11an to 1pm on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Port Allegany Alliance Church, 414 Mill Street, Port Allegany, where funeral services will follow at 1pm with Dr. Jason Tronetti, Pastor Tim Miller, and Pastor Mike Culver, officiating. Chris will be laid to rest with his wife, Heather, in Card Creek Cemetery, Roulette.

Galeton Borough Authority (Owner) is requesting Bids for the construction of the following Project: Wet
more Run Well Development.

A certified check or bank draft payable to the order of Galeton Borough Authority, or a satisfactory Bid
Bond executed by the Bidder and an acceptable surety in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the
total of the Bid, shall be submitted with each bid. The Bidder shall include the fully completed Non-Collu
sion Affidavit and additional supporting documents with the bid.
Bids may be held by the Galeton Borough Authority for up to 60 days from the date of opening for the
purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the qualifications of bidders prior to awarding the con

WOMAN SENTENCED TO STATE PRISON FOR STEALING GUITARS FROM BLIND MAN
MCKEAN COUNTY, Pennsylvania: June 30, 2026): District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that the Bradford woman convicted at a jury trial of stealing guitars from a blind man has been sentenced to state prison for her crimes.
Samantha HINCHMAN was sentenced by the judge to serve a sentence of not less than 6 months to not more than 24 months to be served in a state prison. HINCHMAN was ordered to pay restitution and undergo additional terms. DA Vettenburg Shaffer reports that two of the stolen guitars were sold to a music store in Jamestown and handed over to police by the owner. A third guitar and case were never recovered.
