United Way of the Bradford Area Exceeds 2025 Campaign Goal in Centennial Year: “A Century of Service — 100 Years United”

Bradford, Pennsylvania – In a year defined by celebration, generosity, and extraordinary community spirit, the United Way of the Bradford Area is proud to announce it has not only reached — but exceeded — its 2025 Annual Campaign goal during its landmark centennial year, “A Century of Service — 100 Years United.”
With an original goal of $300,000, the campaign ultimately raised $307,000, thanks to widespread community support, proceeds from the February 6th Soup Lunch fundraiser, and some late gifts that helped carry the campaign over the finish line.
This milestone reflects the remarkable generosity of local residents, businesses, and organizations who continue to invest in the well-being of their neighbors. While community needs continue to evolve, this year’s success demonstrates that the Bradford area remains deeply committed to caring for one another.
A standout factor in this year’s success was the exceptional support from Northern Pennsylvania Regional College. In particular, the leadership and advocacy of Richard McDowell and Lisa Pecora played a pivotal role in mobilizing support and raising awareness throughout the community.
“We would not have been successful this year without their help,” United Way’s Executive Director, Sarah Lonzi, noted. “Their commitment and enthusiasm made a tremendous difference this year and we are extremely grateful for their generosity.”
The United Way also extends heartfelt appreciation to its long-standing partners and major supporters. Special thanks go to Zippo Manufacturing Company/W.R. Case and Sons Cutlery for its continued dedication, to Northwest Bank for its increased support this year, and to Halloran Philanthropies for its generous contribution. Other notable mentions to American Refining Group, PNC Bank Foundation, Control Chief, Hamlin Bank, CNB Bank, KOA Speer Electronics, McCourt Label Company, Stateline Supply, Snyder Brothers, the Blaisdell Foundation, Pembroke Foundation, Sheetz, Highmark, the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, and the Bradford Area School District.
While individual giving has significantly decreased, community engagement reached new heights through special events, with participation increasing meaningfully throughout the campaign. As a result, fundraising from events more than doubled compared to previous years — a powerful reflection of local enthusiasm and unity.
Most importantly, the funds raised will directly benefit the Bradford area. Campaign dollars will be distributed to more than 40 local nonprofit programs, supporting essential services for individuals and families across the community. These programs address vital needs such as food security, youth development, education, mental health services, financial stability, senior support, emergency assistance, and overall community well-being.
Board President Suzi Marasco emphasized the collective effort behind the achievement:
“I’m incredibly thankful to our campaign chairs, board members, Executive Director, and the many community members who came together to support this year’s United Way campaign. Reaching our goal truly reflects the heart of our community and the willingness of people to step up and help their neighbors. This was a team effort, and we’re grateful to everyone who gave, volunteered, and helped make this possible.”
Campaign Chairs Ashlee Puglio and Jeff Puglio highlighted the lasting impact of the campaign:
“Meeting the goal for this year’s annual campaign is much more than a number. It represents real and actionable support for local programming that will strengthen education, financial stability, and health for so many members of the Bradford community. Jeff and I are so excited about the impact that these funds will have and grateful to everyone who helped to make it possible.”
As the United Way of the Bradford Area begins its second century of service, it does so with renewed optimism and gratitude — inspired by a community that continues to show up, give generously, and stand united to make Bradford a stronger place for all.
