Carl Wayne NILES, 75, of Smethport, PA, died Tuesday, August 11, 2026, in his home. Friends may call at Olney-Foust Funeral Homes & Crematory, Switzer Chapel, 77 Willow Street, Port Allegany on Saturday, August 15, 2026 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 1:00 PM. Rev. Max Simms will officiate. Military Rites will be accorded in the funeral home at the beginning of the funeral by members of the Port Allegany Honor Guard. A Masonic service will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany. Memorials may be made to Port Allegany Ambulance Service or Smethport Trap Team. Online condolences may be expressed at www.olneyfoust.com.

Program Title: The Woods in Three Square – Guest Presenter

Description: Come out to Sizerville State Park for a layered craft workshop! The Woods in Three Square owner, Cindy Swarner, will be hosting an in-person workshop at Pavilion 2. There will be 2 options to pick from this year - an elk or a fox! No artistic talent required—join us to make your own piece of wildlife art and wear something that you don’t mind that gets messy!

Cost of this workshop will be $30 per person - please bring payment (cash or check only!) to the park with you on the day of the workshop!

Program Title: Lumber Heritage Region – Guest Presenter

Date: Saturday, August 15^th

Time: 7:30 PM

Location: Campground Amphitheater

Description: Join LHR’s Education & Outreach Administrator, Rowan Crisp, as she explores Pennsylvania’s rich lumbering past. View her collection of “Wood on Glass” images showcasing the heyday of the logging era. Rowan will also show us the "Pennsylvania Desert" of the 1920s and discuss the significance of the Civilian Conservation Corps in shaping the forests and parks we cherish today—feel free to bring snacks and a blanket!

Location: Environmental Learning Center

Description: Come down to the ELC and join the park educator for a short story followed by a make and take craft. This week’s topic will be turtles!

Animal Science Program: Join us on Wednesday, August 12th, at 2:00 pm for an
Animal Science program brought to you by the Mobile Learning Labs of Alfred State College! Attendees will compare skeletal structures of multiple species and analyze how bone structure affects movement and behavior. Animal skulls and skeletons will be brought in for this lesson. We will then learn about owls and dissect owl pellets. This program is for ages 10 and up. Limited seating is available. Please call or stop in to sign up. 814-697-6691.

Page to Screen Club: Join us on Monday, August 31st, at 1:00 pm to discuss the book and film, “All the Light We Cannot See,” by Anthony Doerr. The library can provide books. This is an off-site library program. The location may change each month. Please ask the librarian for more information! The Book Discussion Group meets at the library on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 10:30 am. The date for this month is August 13th. All are invited to participate. Books are provided by the Potter-Tioga Library System.

Stitch Together: Do you enjoy knitting, crocheting, needlework, and chatting while
you work? (Or chatting and not getting much of your project done?) Join us at the
library on Thursdays and Saturdays starting at 1:30 pm. The dates for this month are Thursday, August 6th & 20th, and Saturday, August 15th & 29th.
