Michael Hamer, 76, of Bradford, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, February 22, 2024, at home.

Born January 28, 1948, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Stephen L. and Virginia D. (Heitzinger) Hamer.

Mike graduated from Bradford Area High School in 1966, and Lincoln Welding School.

On July 15, 1969, he married Barbara (Weidow) Hamer, who preceded him in death on August 5, 1981. 

He worked for Penelec, Asplundh Tree Services, he was a self employed mechanic and a welder pipefitter at ARG.

Mike enjoyed rebuilding cars, muscle cars, hunting, and boating. He was an avid stock car racing fan, attending many tracks in Western Pennsylvania, and New York.

Sonia Gail Wright, 88, of Montmorenci Road, Ridgway, died on Monday, February 26, 2024, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

She was born on February 8, 1936, in Ridgway, a daughter of the late Wallace R. and Elizabeth W. Oknefski Olson.

She was a lifelong Ridgway resident, was as a graduate of Ridgway Area High School, class of 1954 a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Fox Twp. Senior Center for many years. Sonia loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and watching their sporting events. She loved to watch her flowers bloom, enjoyed cooking, and was an avid Steeler fan. 

Sonia was a homemaker taking care of her family, later Sonia retired from Community Nurses after several years of service. Sonia also worked for the Ridgway Telephone Company, Alpine Pressed Metals, and Helpmates. 

Mary V. Bauer, 98, of Silver Creek Terrace and formerly of 414 Evers Avenue, St. Marys, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Elk Haven Nursing Home with her loving family by her side. 

She was born August 3, 1925, in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Matilda Smithbauer Young.  Mary was a lifelong resident of St. Marys.  She attended St. Marys Parochial School. Over the years, she was employed at The Daily Press where she led a feisty crew of early-morning inserters.  She was an avid bingo player, enjoyed playing cards, sharing a beer at family gatherings or with anyone stopping by her house, reading, working on search-a words and watching the Hallmark channel and mystery movies. 

On June 30, 1945, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, she married the late Harold A. Bauer, who preceded her in death on June 21, 1989. They were blessed with 44 years of marriage.

Mary is survived by four children: her daughter, Yvonne ‘Von’ Cherry (Mike) of St. Marys and three sons, Wayne Bauer (Ann) of St. Marys, Jim Bauer (Cathie) of St. Marys, and Perry Bauer (Sue) of DuBois.

                   Robert J. Way

Robert J. Way, 82, of Warren, PA., died Sunday morning, February 25, 2024, after a brief illness.  He was born July 24, 1941, in Clearfield, PA.  He was the son of Robert J. and Rose Matsock  Way, Jr.   Bob was a resident of Warren, most of his entire life.  He was employed with the U.S. Forest Service and A Safe Place.  Bob enjoyed collecting coins.

David M. Dunmire:  Loving Father, Grandfather, Brother

David M. Dunmire, 80, of 7557 Emerson Road, Town of Wirt, NY passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Strong Memorial Hospital, after a lengthy illness.

Born on July 3, 1943, in Belmont he was a son of Charles M. and Thelma Witten Dunmire.  In 1967, in Salamanca, he married Mary Anne Tompsick, who predeceased him in death in 1994.  In 1998, in Cuba, he married Lyvonne Whitford, who predeceased him in death on January 17, 2006.

David was a graduate of Richburg Central Schools Class of 1963.  He then served in the United States Navy from May 19, 1964 until August 16, 1968. 

While living in Kalkaska, Michigan he was employed by the Midwest Forge Co.  He then returned to New York and began working as a machinist for Dresser Rand in Wellsville retiring after thirteen years.

Shirley J. Milchuck, 83, formerly of Ridgway, PA died on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Pinecrest Nursing Home.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and under the direction of Krise Funeral Homes and Cremation Services.

Smethport – Ronald J. Mye, 77, of Warren, PA died Friday (February 23, 2024) at Kinzua Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Warren.

He was born July 29, 1946.  Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport, at 9AM Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024.

SHINGLEHOUSE, PA — To pay respects to Donald Richardson, 76, of Shinglehouse, and his family, calling hours will be held from 1 pm to 2 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Crosstown Alliance Church, 120 E. Honeoye Street, Shinglehouse, where a Celebration of Life will follow at 2 pm.

Members of the Potter County Honor Guard will accord military honors on Saturday at the church.
