Last week in review: For the second year in a row, the softball team finished second in the United East Conference to Penn State Brandywine, and for the second year in a row, because Brandywine is still in its provisional timeline of transitioning to Division III and is ineligible to advance, the Wildcats will represent the conference in NCAA Regional play.

Penn College’s regional championship draw will be revealed during the selection show at 11 a.m. on Monday. The regional round, featuring 42 automatic qualifiers and 11 at-large bids, is scheduled for Thursday-Saturday.

Also, 11 men’s lacrosse and two women’s tennis players were awarded all-conference honors.

On the horizon: In addition to softball this week, the men’s golf team is competing starting Tuesday in the NCAA Division III Championship at the Mission Resort and Club at Howie-in-the-Hills, Florida, and the coed archery team is competing starting Thursday in the USA Archery Collegiate Target Nationals at East Lansing, Michigan.

BRADFORD, Pa. — Five internationally acclaimed brass musicians will come together at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, in the Bromeley Family Theater, Blaisdell Hall, for a special concert marking 250 years of American history.

Performing as Southern Tier Brass, the ensemble collectively brings experience playing with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Buffalo Philharmonic as well as teaching at Berklee College of Music, Louisiana State University and the Eastman School of Music.

Pork King Good Issues Voluntary Recall of Certain Sour Cream & Onion Pork Rinds and Seasoning Due to Potential Salmonella Risk

Pork King Good has voluntarily recalled specific Sour Cream & Onion pork rind and seasoning products. This recall was initiated following a recall by California Dairies, Inc. concerning potential Salmonella contamination in milk powder, which was used as an ingredient in our Sour Cream & Onion seasoning blend.

To date, neither Pork King Good nor our suppliers have received any reports of illness or injury related to these products. Our own internal testing has not identified any impacted finished goods; however, we are taking this step out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our customers.

The Elk County Council on the Arts (ECCOTA), in partnership with Remake Learning Days, is excited to announce a family-friendly art experience, Mobiles: The Art of Movement, taking place on May 9 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the ECCOTA Gallery in Ridgway.

Led by teaching artist Caroline Fitch, this interactive art activity has participants exploring the fascinating world of 4D artwork: art that incorporates motion as an essential element. Students will learn about balance, design, and movement as they create their own unique hanging mobiles.

That’s where the United East Conference-championship Penn College men’s golf team will find itself over the next several days as five Wildcats tee it up with 220 others from the nearly 4,800 student-athletes who competed on more than 40 teams at the NCAA Division III level this season.

The D-III Championship will be held Tuesday-Friday at Mission Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. After the first 36 holes of play, the field will be cut to the top 18 teams and the top six individuals not on those teams.
