NOTABLE BRASS MUSICIANS TO PLAY CONCERT AT PITT-BRADFORD FOR AMERICA 250

BRADFORD, Pa. — Five internationally acclaimed brass musicians will come together at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, in the Bromeley Family Theater, Blaisdell Hall, for a special concert marking 250 years of American history.
Performing as Southern Tier Brass, the ensemble collectively brings experience playing with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Buffalo Philharmonic as well as teaching at Berklee College of Music, Louisiana State University and the Eastman School of Music.
Geoffrey Hardcastle, trumpet, has served as second trumpet of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra since 2006. A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music, he previously performed with The Cleveland Orchestra and the Atlanta, Cincinnati, and Columbus symphonies. He is a founding member of the Burning River Brass Ensemble and has recorded internationally on the Chandos and Dorian labels.
Seth Orgel, horn, holds the Manship Professorship at Louisiana State University and spent 13 seasons with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. As a member of the Atlantic Brass Quintet, he has performed in more than 30 countries and with orchestras including the Chicago Symphony and Buffalo Philharmonic.
John Faieta, trombone, is a founding member of the Atlantic Brass Quintet and a veteran of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops, and The Cleveland Orchestra. He served as associate professor at Berklee College of Music and the Boston Conservatory at Berklee for 19 years before retiring in 2019.
Dr. Cyril Bodnar, trumpet, serves as principal trumpet of the Southern Tier Symphony and the Warren Philharmonic. Praised for his “brilliant and stunning” musicianship by composer Johan de Meij, he has performed alongside Joseph Alessi of the New York Philharmonic and the Irish Tenors and holds degrees from Ithaca College and Rutgers University.
Ethan Millington, tuba, is completing his Doctor of Musical Arts at the Eastman School of Music and keeps an active freelance career across Central and Western New York, with recent appearances with the Buffalo Philharmonic, Rochester Philharmonic, and Syracuse orchestras.
The concert is part of the nationwide America 250 initiative, coinciding with commemorations leading up to the nation’s semiquincentennial on July 4, 2026.
Tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for veterans and active-duty military. Student tickets are $5. The Pitt-Bradford Arts Box Office in Blaisdell Hall is open Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and one hour before the performance.
