The Port Allegany High School Gator Marching Band ended their week-long band camp with a photo shoot held at the school. The band participated in the Swedish Festival Parade on Saturday and the McKean County Fair Parade in Smethport on Monday. They will end the week participating in a parade at Kennywood.
New York defeated the PA team 56-0 on Saturday night at Parkway Field in Bradford. The win has evened the score with NY now having 26 wins, along with PA’s 26 wins.

The second Farm & Flea Market was held at the AMEIA (Allegheny Mountain Engine and Implement Association) grounds located at 4783 Route 155 in Port Allegany. The markets are held the first Saturday of each month from June through October. Montoursville – Motorists traveling in Lycoming County are advised of potential shoulder closures and lane shifts next Monday and Tuesday on Interstate 180, Route 220, and Route 15 for roadway maintenance.

Kenneth L. Rogers “beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother”
Kenneth L. “Kenny” Rogers, 85, a lifelong resident of Coudersport, passed away in UPMC Cole, Coudersport, on Sunday, August 10, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Christopher M. Austin, 54, of Cuba, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, after a brief illness.
Born on April 25, 1971, in Olean, he was a son of Kenneth H. and Lynn M. Butts Austin.Chris was a graduate of Richburg Central School Class of 1989. He later graduated from JCC in Olean with an associates degree and Houghton College with his bachelor’s degree.While young, he worked as a sales consultant at Sears in Olean.
Thomas C. Munn, 56, Retired Foster Township Police Chief, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2025, at his residence.
Born June 21, 1969, in DuBois, he was the son of Thomas M. and Diana L. (Plyler) Munn, of DuBois.
Tom was a 1987 graduate of Brockway High School. He later attended the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he received his Act 120 training to become a police officer in 1989.
On May 21, 1994, in St. Bernard Church, he married Charla J. (Butler) Munn who survives.
Tom’s first employment was with Corydon Township Police Department as a patrol officer on land and on water on the reservoir at Kinzua Dam while attending Act 120 training. He later joined the Port Allegany Police Department in July of 1989, working there until July of 1991. In 1991, he joined the Foster Township Police Department as a full-time police officer, obtaining his certification in wiretap and electronic surveillance in 1992. In 2008, he was appointed Lieutenant. Tom was known for his knowledge and expertise in obtaining search warrants, so much so that other agencies would ask for his assistance. In 2010, Tom was appointed Police Chief for Foster Township, a position he held until he retired on August 20, 2024, for a career of 35 years in law enforcement. During his retirement, he brought his training and police skills to become the Guidance Center’s Facilities Security Officer, a position he held up until to his death. During his police career, he also worked part-time at the Eldred Police Department, Smethport Police Department, and Pitt Bradford Campus Police Department.
He was a member and served as Western Coordinator for the McKean County Drug Task Force, the Fraternal Order of Police, the Seneca Law Enforcement Association, and served on the Board of Director for the McKean County Domestic Violence Program.
Tom’s greatest joy in his life was spending time with his family, especially his wife Charla, daughter Natalie, and his daughter-in-law Emily. His second favorite thing in life was fishing. For over a quarter of century, he traveled to lakes in Canada each summer. He especially loved fishing at “Island 10” on Lady Evelyn Lake in Temiskaming Shores, Canada the last 20 years.
Surviving in addition to his parents, Tom and Diana, of DuBois, is his wife Charla of 31 years, his daughter Natalie (Emily) Munn, one sister Tammy (Randy) Drum of DuBois, nephew Dustin (Sydnee) Drum and niece Drew Drum, Tom’s sister-in-law Sue (late Dan) Hillard, two brothers-in-law, Mike (Sandy) Butler, and Charley (Beth) Butler, and their children.
Family will receive friends on Sunday August 10, 2025, from 1 pm to 4 pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. 33 South Avenue, Bradford. Friends are also invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am on Monday in St. Bernard Church with Fr. Jim Gutting as Celebrant. Committal services will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford has received $286,104 from the U.S. Department of Education to help students stay in college and graduate. The money comes from a federal program called TRIO Student Support Services.
TRIO SSS supports students who come from families with low incomes, are the first in their families to go to college or have disabilities.
David Lee Apple, 83, of Austin, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.
He was born on February 2, 1942, in Dayton, OH, the son of the late Virginia (Guy) Apple. He is the husband of Isleta M. (Weaks) Apple.
David is a graduate of Kiser High School, Dayton and worked for Platt Manufacturing, Dayton, as the Vice President of Operations in the machine shop. After retirement he worked for Seals Pro Hardware, Coudersport, and the Potter County maintenance department. David was a certified rescue diver and shipwreck diver.
Penn State Extension of Potter County will offer a free Paint and Sip workshop on Monday, August 11th from 6 pm to 8 pm. Presented by Patience Batterson, this event is a collaboration with the Potter County Arts Council. The workshop open to all Potter County youth ages 5-18 and will take place in the Penn State Extension conference room located on the back side of the Gunzburger Building, 1 North Main Street, Room #216, Coudersport, PA.
Participants will be provided with beverages along with a canvas, brushes, and paint.
