It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of June P. McShane of North Fork, PA on June 8th, after a lengthy illness. June was born in Trenton, NJ on November 20, 1935 to the late Anthony K. and Ethel C. (Mathews) Thornley of Morrisville, PA.
A graduate of Morrisville High School, class of 1953, June married and moved to Bensalem, PA. She is survived by her children, Linda, Paul (Darice) and Jeff McShane; Grandchildren, James (Sislaine), Shawn, Taegen, Bridget and Ian McShane; Great-grandchildren, Madeleine and Laura McShane; and Nephew, Dr. Glenn Thornley (Lorrie).
June was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Theodore Jack McShane; as well as her brother, Anthony K. Thornley, Jr. and nephew, Christopher Thornley.
June worked as a dental assistant for many years before transferring to the insurance side of dentistry. She loved traveling around the country with her husband in their RV and going on trips with her friends, Mary and Louise. June also loved gardening, her cats, and spending time with her family.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in honor of June may be made to your favorite feline rescue organization. Arrangements are in the care of Kenyon Funeral Home, Inc.
James F. Dynda, Sr. “the Legend has passed”

SHINGLEHOUSE, PA—James F. “Jim” Dynda, Sr., 82, of Shinglehouse, a former lifelong resident of Austin, passed away after a brief illness in his son’s home in Austin, on Monday, June 8, 2026, with his loving family by his side.
Born on Wednesday, January 12, 1944 in Coudersport, he was a son of John and Jane Housler Dynda.
For most of his life, Jim was employed as a pipeliner.
Left to cherish his memory are his three sons, James F. “Jimmy” (Rebecca) Dynda, Jr. of Austin, George A. (Kimberly Gockley) Dynda of Austin, and Pete L. (Amber) Dynda of Grove City; his loving companion, Jerri “Hun Bun” Olmstead of Shinglehouse; a son-in-law, Mark VanWhy of Austin; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Judy) Dynda of Austin; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by a daughter, Felicia K. VanWhy; a grandson, Trevor A. Dynda; two sisters, Patricia “Sis” Friedl and Diane Gross; and his beloved dog, Jake.
In keeping with Jim’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services.

Shapiro Administration Urges Drivers To Put the Phone Away Or Pay A Fine Under New Law
Effective last week, drivers convicted under Paul Miller’s Law will pay a fine.
Saylorsburg, PA – Today, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Secretary Mike Carroll and Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) were along Route 33 in Saylorsburg urging drivers to put down the phone while driving. Effective last week, drivers convicted of using a hand-held device while driving will pay a $50 fine, plus court costs and other fees under Paul Miller’s Law.

In 2024, Governor Josh Shapiro signed Paul Miller’s Law, which prohibits the use of hand-held devices while driving, even while stopped temporarily due to traffic, a red light, or other delays. Drivers can still use their phones to alert authorities in the event of an emergency and use hands-free technology to make phone calls, use a GPS, and listen to music.
Women’s Introduction to Wingshooting To Be Offered In NC PA In July And August – Registration Required

Coudersport, Pa.: The Ruffed Grouse Society (RGS) is proud to announce that they will offer their popular Women’s Introduction to Wingshooting Program in Pennsylvania this summer.
This year it will be held in the NC region of Pennsylvania, but any woman in Pennsylvania or adjacent states is welcome to attend AND you do not have to be a member of the RGS to attend this one-of-a kind shooting program – women teaching women how to shoot or hunt!
The Black Forest Conservation Association near Coudersport will host this year’s Women’s Introduction to Wingshooting program at 189 Back Road, Coudersport, Pa 16915. Women can register by contacting Bethany Ford at bjmf989@gmail.com for details. Four slots are still available on a first come, first serve basis.

The program will occur over two weekends – one weekend in July and a second weekend in August, and you must attend both weekends to graduate the program. The dates for this year’s program are July 18-19, and then August 22-23, 2026. On both Saturdays, the course starts at noon and ends at 4:00 p.m. On both Sundays, the course starts at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m.
Lodging is available, if needed, but is limited. For women interested in pay-for lodging, consider
staying at a local inn, AirBnb, or a Bed and Breakfast, all near Coudersport, Pa.
Disorderly Conduct Arrest In Bradford

On June 6, 2026, at approximately 0615 hours, officers responded to a report of a female acting erratically near 15 Fairbanks Avenue, Bradford City, McKean County, PA. Upon arrival, officers located a 57-year-old female, identified as Andrea Borza-Holmes, at her residence of 15 Fairbanks Avenue.
At the time, she was attempting to break windows at her house and had what she described as “war paint” on her face and a lampshade on her head. During the initial approach, a neighbor left the area in her vehicle, stating she was scared due to Borza-Holmes’ actions.
Borza-Holmes would occasionally walk out into the yard and yell profanities at the officers, continuing this behavior even after a Mental Health delegate arrived. While inside the residence, Borza-Holmes continued to smash and break items, yelling out the broken windows at officers. Eventually, she was taken into custody. During a search incident to arrest, officers located three vapes containing THC on her person.
Retail Theft Arrest In Bradford

On June 4, 2026, at approximately 1900 hours, an officer responded to a report of a past tense retail theft at the Dollar General located at 114 Boylston St. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with Assistant Manager, who reported that an elderly male had stolen items from the store and that the incident was captured on surveillance footage.
The officer reviewed the surveillance footage and observed the male suspect taking two items from a hook on the back wall of the store and concealing them in his pants pocket.
Further investigation led to the identification of the suspect as a 64-year-old male. The officer patrolled the area and located the suspect, David Foust, sitting outside of Sheetz. Upon making contact with Foust, he admitted to taking the items.
The officer took Foust into custody without incident and transported him to the Bradford City Police Department for processing pending charges. According to Foust’s criminal history, this is his fourth offense for retail theft making is a 3rd degree Felony.
All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Potter County Housing Authority will receive bids for Flooring Renovations for Freeman House Elderly Housing Project, Coudersport, Pennsylvania, at the office of the Owner, Potter County Housing Authority, 109 Market Street, Coudersport, Pennsylvania, until 2 P.M, Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at which time and place all bids will be opened and read aloud.

Robert C. SHELLEY, Sr., 86, of Port Allegany, PA, died Friday, November 28, 2025 in Sena-Kean, Smethport, PA.
A gathering to celebrate Bob’s life will be held Sunday, June 14, 2026 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the Veterans Memorial, Inc., 4743 PA-155, Port Allegany, PA. A luncheon will be served. Military Rites will be accorded by the Port Allegany Honor Guard.
Born November 26, 1939, in Port Allegany, he was the son of Max R. and Ruth Carl Shelley. On May 1, 1959, in Elizabeth City, NC, he married Julia Jones, who predeceased him on May 2, 2005. A U.S. Navy Veteran, he served honorably from 1957 – 1960. He was employed as a supervisor by Port Allegany Borough. Bob was a member of the Canoe Place Fish and Game Club and was active in local bowling leagues. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed farming and riding his Harley Davidson. Bob cherished time with his family. He especially enjoyed dancing at the weddings of his grandchildren.
Surviving are: two sons, Robert C. (Diane) Shelley, Jr. and Joseph M. (Amy) Shelley, both of Port Allegany; six grandchildren, Joshua (Nicki) Shelley, Nate (Tiffany) Shelley, Samantha (Stephen) Weidner, Jennifer (Derek) Matheson, Christie Homell, and Wayne (Linda) Homell; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, John Kephart of New Middletown, OH; two sisters, Jane (Joseph) Kaziska of Port Allegany and Sue Kephart Carpenter of Norfolk, VA; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Ralph Peasley; and a sister, Carol Galford. Burial will be in Shelley Family Cemetery, Port Allegany. Memorials may be made to Port Area Ambulance Service.

Unauthorized Use Of A Motor Vehicle In Bradford

On June 9, 2026, at approximately 0557 hours, City of Bradford Police Department officers responded to a report of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle at 7A Kiwanis Court, City of Bradford, McKean County, Pennsylvania.
The victim reported that the defendant Jordan Kornacki, a 27-year-old female, had taken their vehicle without permission. The defendant admitted to operating the vehicle prior to questioning. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to the Bradford City Police Department for processing.
It was discovered that the defendant had a suspended driver’s license due to a previous DUI offense. Appropriate charges have been filed.
All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Janet M. Glatt, 66, of St. Mary’s, PA

Janet M. Glatt, 66, of St. Mary’s, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026, in Brockway, PA following a brief illness.
She was born on April 9, 1960, in St. Marys, PA, a daughter of the late George E. Glatt and Marlene “Molly” Dippold Glatt, who survives of St. Marys.
Jan was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, class of 1978. She was a compassionate and selfless woman whose kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. She had a special love for animals and devoted much of her life to rescuing pets and taking in stray animals, always ensuring they found a safe and loving home. Her pets brought her tremendous joy and were cherished members of her family. Known for her generous heart and friendly nature, Jan never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She genuinely loved people and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Putting others before herself came naturally to her, and Janet made it her mission to ensure everyone around her was cared for and supported. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering compassion will be remembered by all whose lives she touched.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by one son; Jusson Glatt (Jenna Stamm) of St. Marys, by three brothers; Daniel Glatt of St. Marys, David Glatt of Kersey, and Joseph (Fe) Glatt of Kersey, and by three nieces and one nephew.
In addition to her father, Janet was preceded in death by her step-father; Richard Rankin.

CARE for Children Holds 24th Annual Basketball Mini-Camp


CARE for Children held its 24th annual basketball mini-camp for school-age children Tuesday evening, with close to 30 children in attendance, at Callahan Park in Bradford. The camp gives children of all abilities a chance to improve motor skills, build social connections, and stay physically active.
CARE therapists, teachers, and staff joined volunteer coaches from the community, each paired with a team for the duration of the event. Campers rotated through skill stations covering passing, dribbling, shooting, layups, ball handling, and defense. Each child received a t-shirt, basketball, and pizza following the event.
Craig Singer, 78, Of Kersey

Craig Singer, 78, of Kersey, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026. He was the son of Merle and Ramona Boitano Singer.
Craig was the owner of Singer Logging and Lumber of Kersey, Director of Veterans Affairs-Elk County, and the Director of the Disabled Veterans Outreach Program through the United States Department of Labor.
Craig loved everything related to the veterans, having served proudly in the Vietnam War. He was past president of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 720, the Fox Township American Legion, Post 511, and instrumental in bringing the Moving Wall to Elk County. He was an Eagle Scout and involved in all aspects of the scouting program, including those at Camp Mountain Run. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with friends.
Craig is survived by Sheila Singer; their son, Tim (Julie) and his children: Alexis (Ty), Jade (Sam) and TJ; their daughter, Tracy (Tony) and their son, Jack; their son, Traves (Kerri) and his children: Breonna and Hailey, and great-grandson, Tayte. Craig is also survived by his brother, Mark (Rita).
In addition to his parents, Craig was preceded in death by two brothers: Michael and Jerry Singer.
Funeral services for Craig will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home, 371 Main Street, Kersey, PA 15846 at 11:00AM on Saturday, June 13, 2026. Full military rites will be accorded by the Fox Township Servicemen’s Burial Detail.

Ronald Allen Tingley, Loving Papa And Father

Ronald Allen Tingley passed away at home on April 17, 2026, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was a devoted husband and loving father and Papa. He was a proud Marine and always had a smile and kind words for everyone.
Ron graduated from Bradford Area High School and immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on June 20, 1968, with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Stars, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with device.
He was well known for his many years in the automotive industry as an owner, manager, or car salesman.
Ron shared 43 wonderful years of marriage with his wife Michelle (Burkey) Tingley. They built a life filled with music, beach trips, golfing and cherished time with their family. He leaves behind his children, son Christopher and (MaryAnn) Tingley, daughter Jennifer Tingley, and Matthew and (Ivy) Tingley; grandchildren Ryan, Austin, Jackson and Jameson Tingley, a brother Terry Tingley and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Melissa Sue Tingley; his parents, Almon and Frances Y. Tingley; two sisters, Carole Green and Beverly Pecor; and one brother Barry Tingley.
Ron lived a full and meaningful life and was often described as a “good guy”- loyal, friendly and genuine. Cheers, Ron – this Bud’s for You, “Go Browns!”
Friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday June 13, 2026, at 10 am in Willow Dale Cemetery with Rev. LeRoy Beckes, retired Presbyterian minister officiating, followed by Military Honors with members of the United States Marine Corp. and the Honor Guard of the Bradford American Legion Post 108.

Potter County Democratic Committee Steps Up To Keep Recycling Center Community Service Open
COUDERSPORT, Pa. – June 8, 2026 – The Potter County Democratic Committee has officially stepped in to take over community service operations at the Potter County Recycling Center, ensuring this vital station remains open to the public for the foreseeable future. The committee is proud to extend the life of this community service following the dedicated, long-standing tenure of the Coudersport Lions Club.
The transition of responsibility officially began on May 31, 2026. Following a successful handover, the new volunteer team hosted their first official Saturday service session on June 6.
Operating Hours and Guidelines
The recycling center is open to the public year-round on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. To ensure smooth and efficient processing, residents are asked to adhere to the station’s material guidelines.
Accepted Items:
- Clean cardboard
- Clean “tin” cans (e.g., soup cans)
- Aluminum cans
- Plastic items and bottles
- Unshredded paper
Refused Items:
- Flat glass (pane glass)
- Styrofoam
- Any dirty or unrinsed items
Community Donations
A donation box is available on-site during operating hours. All monetary contributions collected will directly benefit charities in the area.
To maintain consistent and reliable hours, the initiative is actively expanding its volunteer base. Organizers are calling on individuals who want to give back to the community, as well as local groups seeking meaningful service projects, to join the effort.
