Joan M. Young, 86, of Ulysses, PA, formerly of Boyertown and Gilbertsville, died Sunday, October 18, 2026, in her home.  Born May 11, 1940, in Pottstown, she was the daughter of Ernest E. and Marie A. Shirey Kappenstein.  

On September 22, 2008, in Wellsboro, she married Michael R. Suchocki, who predeceased her on February 14, 2024.  She was employed as an operating room technician by Pottstown Memorial Hospital for 18 years.  

Surviving are: two brothers, Dennis E. Kappenstein and Harry W. (Diane) Kappenstein, both of Boyertown; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.  In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Ernest E. Kappenstein, Jr.  

Services will be announced by Olney-Foust Funeral Homes & Crematory, Ulysses, PA.  Memorials may be made to Tri-Town Volunteer Ambulance, P.O. Box 247, Ulysses, PA 16948.
