Global Mix, Inc Recalls Tejocote Products Because of Possible Health Risk
Global Mix, Inc. of New York, is recalling tejocote products to include the following brands: Eva Nutrition, Science of Alpha, Niwali, NWL Nutra. The recalled products are labeled as tejocote root but are toxic yellow oleander.
Ingestion of yellow oleander can cause neurologic, gastrointestinal, and cardiovascular adverse health effects that may be severe, or even fatal. Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, diarrhea, abdominal pain, cardiac changes, dysrhythmia, and more.

Students must be residents of Elk County and attending an approved higher education institution for the Fall Semester of 2024. The website contains complete eligibility information along with a list of employers and jobs available. All jobs are with Elk County non-profit organizations. Students should download and complete the application forms and send them directly to the employers as soon as possible since employers may begin hiring at their discretion. Students may work from May 5 through August 10th and will earn $12.00 per hour for up to 480 hours during the summer.
Over the past 40 years, the Foundation has provided more than 4,090 jobs and committed over $5.1 million to this program. When the Foundation’s support is added to the contribution by the Pennsylvania State Work Study Program and the employers’ share, millions of dollars have been earned by college students in Elk County.

Portion of Nauvoo Road to be Closed for Paving Project Starting Next Week in Morris Township, Tioga County
Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that a portion of Route 3014 (Nauvoo Road) will be closed starting next week in Morris Township, Tioga County, for a cold in place recycling project.
Beginning Monday, April 15, 2024, Nauvoo Road will be closed between Route 3016 (Link Hill Road and Grangers Lane Road (T-576), while a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) maintenance crew performs a cold in place recycling operation. Work includes adding millings on the road, grading, and rolling.
A detour using Route 414, Route 287 and Nauvoo Road will be in place while work is being performed. Work will be performed Mondays through Fridays between the hours of 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Work on this project is anticipated to be complete on Friday, May 3, 2024, weather permitting.
Motorists should be alert, expect delays in travel and drive with caution.
Route 15 Microsurfacing Project in Tioga County Set to Begin
Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that a microsurfacing project begins next week on Route 15 in both directions between the Route 660 Interchange in Richmond Township, Tioga County and the New York Border.
Beginning Monday, April 15, 2024, the contractor, Suit-Kote Corporation, will begin the project which includes microsurfacing, base repairs, bridge preservation, and other miscellaneous work. Motorists can expect single lane conditions with work being completed during daylight hours.
Motorists are urged to drive with caution in the area.
Suit-Kote Corporation is the prime contractor on this $4.5 million project.

Potter County Farmers Market Summer Market Beginning May 3rd
The Potter County Farmers Market will have their next market to open the summer schedule. We will locate again across from the jail every Friday beginning May 3rd during the hours of 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm. If you can not make it to the market during those hours, please contact the vendor and we will try to accommodate you.
We will be having our vendors returning and some new selections available. We will post each week on Solomon’s Words and Potter County Farmers Market Facebook page stating what vendors will there and what they plan to bring.

Coudersport Rotary Club holds a Four-Way Test Speech Competition
During the spring semester Coudersport Rotary Club holds a Four-Way Test Speech Competition. It is a competition offered to high school students where the student must prepare a five to seven minute speech to illustrate the principles of the Rotary Four-Way Test. Cash prizes are awarded.
Four Coudersport Jr/Sr High School Students spoke before the Coudersport Rotary Club on March 25th, 2024, at A&W West End Grill.
The Four-Way Test is one of the world’s most widely printed and quoted statements of ethics, which was created in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor. Adopted by Rotary in 1943, The Four-Way Test has been translated into more than a hundred languages and published in thousands of ways. It asks the following four questions of the things we think, say and do:
Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
Our first contestant, Alyssa Dunn, spoke about the Rural Electric Youth Corps. Contestant number two, Alia Piaquadio, spoke on the topic, “We Are Not Our Parents”, our third contestant, Amilee Atherholt spoke on the Value of Music, and our fourth contestant, Joanna Chen, spoke about Peer Pressure.
Contestant number four, Joanna Chen, was our first-place winner and will be going on to the district competition in State College on April 27th.
