Dianne M. Hequembourg Emmons, 80, of Elma, and formerly of Lyndon and Cuba, NY
Dianne M. Hequembourg Emmons, 80, of Elma, and formerly of Lyndon and Cuba, NY passed away Thursday (Aug. 31, 2023) at Hospice of Buffalo, after a brave fight with ovarian cancer.
Born Sept. 25, 1942, in Cuba, she was the daughter of Lindsey A. and Helen M. Greene Gross. On Nov. 19, 1966, in the Cuba First Baptist Church, she married Donald E. Hequembourg, who predeceased her Jan. 23, 1995. She later married Sidney L. Emmons on Dec. 16, 2006, who survives.
Dianne was a graduate of Cuba Central School Class of 1961.
In addition to being a wife and mother she worked as a teacher’s aide at Cuba Central School, AVX in Olean and Acme Electric Corp of Cuba. She retired from Cuba Memorial Hospital, where she had been an activities aide for many years.
She was a member of the Cuba First Baptist church and a 10-year member of the Lyndon Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
Dianne enjoyed baking, gardening, shopping and playing cards and board games with her friends.
In addition to her husband, Sid, she is survived by her daughter, Amy (Merle Emmons) Hequembourg of Elma; two stepdaughters, Jean (Matthew) Emmons of Minnesota and Alice (Tom) Emmons Owens of Cincinnati, Ohio; two grandchildren, Miriam Owens and Bill Owens; a sister-in-law who she loved as a sister, Elizabeth (Ann) Gross of Cuba; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and first husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Lindsey Lee Gross, who passed April 19, 2020.
At Diane’s request, no services will be held. Her ashes will be spread on the family land and buried with her first husband, Don, in their shared plot in Cuba Cemetery, Cuba.
Donations in her name would be gratefully accepted to the Cuba First Baptist Rummage Room and Food Pantry or the Cuba Circulating Library.
