BRADFORD, Pa. — The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford has been ranked No. 5 in Best Value Schools and No. 5 in Best Value Schools for In-State Students among Regional Colleges in the North by U.S. News & World Report, underscoring the campus’s commitment to an affordable Pitt education.

U.S. News & World Report also ranked Pitt-Bradford:

• No. 7 in Best Colleges for Veterans in Regional Colleges (North)
• No. 14 in Top Public Schools in Regional Colleges (North)
• No. 25 in Regional Colleges (North)
• No. 25 in Top Performers on Social Mobility in Regional Colleges (North)

Pitt-Bradford is also the top-ranked Pennsylvania school in Best Value Schools for In-State Students.

The rankings evaluate more than 1,700 colleges and universities nationwide, using up to 17 factors to measure academic quality and graduate success.

“Earning a top-five spot for value affirms what our students and families already know — that a Pitt-Bradford education delivers real return without the burden of overwhelming debt,” said Rick Esch, president of Pitt-Bradford. “Keeping college within reach is one of our highest priorities, and this recognition reflects that commitment.”

U.S. News publishes the Best Colleges rankings each year to provide prospective students and their families with the comparative merits of undergraduate programs at America’s colleges and universities. The rankings, which date back to 1983, offer detailed information on institutions and data on factors such as graduation rates and post-graduate earnings.

This is the seventh consecutive year that U.S. News has recognized Pitt-Bradford in its rankings. The North region consists of Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

The magazine said it considers regional colleges those that focus on undergraduate education but that grant fewer than 50% of degrees in liberal arts disciplines.

This is the most recent honor Pitt-Bradford has received. Earlier this month, Washington Monthly named the campus one of the two Pennsylvania colleges to appear in the top 50 of its debut listing of Best Colleges for Rural America.

In August, The Princeton Review recognized Pitt-Bradford as one of the Best Regional Colleges in the North for the 23rd consecutive year.
