Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised of a lane restriction next week on Interstate 180 in both directions on the bridges over Loyalsock Creek in Loyalsock Township, Lycoming County.
On Wednesday, September 13, 2023, a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) maintenance crew will be inspecting the light poles on the bridges along the interstate between the hours of 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM. The right (driving) lane will be closed while work is being performed.
Motorists are urged to be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.
Please be advised that Allegany County DPW will have daily road closures of County Road #36 between County Road #3 and Dow Road intersections from September 11 through September 14, and between Dow Road and Hopkins Road intersections from September 18 through September 21 for the purpose of replacing culvert pipes.
The road will only be closed during working hours (7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) and will be opened back up for use at night and weekends. There will not be an on-site detour and motorists are urged to seek alternate routes. Thank you for your cooperation.
A Search warrant obtained by the Street Crimes Unit was conducted last night at 10:20 p.m. on an apartment located at 210 N. 2nd. St.
One person was charged after Investigators located 20 Grams of Crack Cocaine, 54 Grams of Fentanyl, $6700.00 cash, a loaded shotgun and other items used to package drugs.
37 year old Rahsean L. Holcome of 210 N. 2nd St. was charged with two counts of Criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd. degree ( B Felonies ), Criminal possession of a weapon 4th degree ( A Misdemeanor ) and Criminal use of drug paraphernalia ( A Misdemeanor ).
Holcome was processed at the Olean Police Department. At arraignment today Holcome was held without Bail until further Court proceedings. The Street Crimes Unit was assisted by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.
Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that a tree clearing project is set to begin today on Route 44 in Watson Township, Lycoming County.
Starting on Thursday, September 7, 2023, the contractor, Green Acres Contracting Corporation, will begin clearing trees along Route 44 between Furnace Run Road and Route 973. Motorists can expect single lane conditions with flagging where work is being performed. Work will be performed during daylight hours.
Green Acres Contracting Corporation is the prime contractor for this $250,000 tree clearing project. This project will remove trees in preparation for utility relocation and an embankment stabilization project.
Motorists should be alert, expect delays in travel, and drive with caution.

BRADFORD, Pa. – The members of Marcellus & Utica Gas, a group of individuals associated with suppliers, services and manufacturers in the oil and gas industry, have noticed a trend in their field.
“Everything we see is technology related,” says Walt Elmquist, a founding board member of the nonprofit group. “Tech is everything. As we travel the northeast, every company we talk to needs technical people.”
The shift from mechanical to technical skills throughout the oil and gas industry led the MUG members to look for ways to support educational opportunities in oil and gas technology. A group of programs at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford fit the bill perfectly.
Free, in-person programs are being held this Saturday, Sept. 9 at Cherry Springs State Park at 4639 Cherry Springs Road, Coudersport, PA 16915. The park is 12 miles from Route 6 in Galeton via West Branch Road and 15 miles from Coudersport via Route 44.
Star gazing programs are in the Night Sky Public Viewing Area. Park in the gravel lot and follow the walkway next to the restrooms to the seating area.
Check the Clear Sky Chart or Astrospheric for 48-hour forecasts of cloud cover and viewing conditions.
All visitors should arrive at the park before dark whether they are attending a star gazing program or are observing on their own. Leave pets at home.
All programs will be cancelled in the event of rain or thunder.
Registration is encouraged, but not required. The public may want to register because all registered participants will receive an email if a program has to be cancelled or modified due to weather, etc.

On Thursday, August 24, 2023 Dr. William Conrad retired as the Chairman of the Board of the Stackpole-Hall Foundation. Having turned 80 years of age the day before, Dr. Conrad, believes that younger leadership is needed; and while stepping down as Chair, he intends to remain active as a Trustee for a few more years.
Upon his resignation as Chairman, Conrad nominated fellow long-time trustee Alexander Sheble-Hall to be the next chairman. Following his nomination, Mr. Sheble-Hall, affectionally known as Sandy, was unanimously elected as only the sixth Chairman in the Foundation’s seventy-two-year history.
