Their Fall 2024 semester begins Wednesday, August 14^th. Courses being offered include Introduction to Psychology, Music Appreciation, Introduction to Early Childhood Education, Accounting I, Business Technology, Business and Professional Communication, and many more. These courses are part of five associate degrees: Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Liberal Studies, and Social Sciences. If you are not interested in pursuing an associate degree at this time, NPRC’s team will help you select courses or training that meets whatever goal you would like to achieve.

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania — Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources State Parks Director John Hallas today announced the first phase of improvements to transform Denton Hill State Park into a four-season recreational destination in Potter County.

A first phase this summer will include the improvement of current hiking and biking trails; upgrading and opening traditional tent camping, recreational vehicle sites, and modern cabins; and reopening the iconic lodge as a venue for large events, including weddings.

“We are working with our partners, Denton Go, to reimagine Denton Hill and create a year-round destination for visitors from the Commonwealth and the Pennsylvania Wilds region,” Hallas said. “Our goal is to turn Denton Hill into a a premier destination for camping, events, and more as we implement a strategic plan and fully bring new ideas to life.”

Governor Josh Shapiro recently launched a new brand for the Commonwealth — Pennsylvania: The Great American Getaway — and pointed to Pennsylvania’s state park system as incredible destinations for a weekend getaway. State parks are great summer destinations for swimming, boating, cam​ping, and other outdoor recreation opportunities.

Belmont, NY – The Allegany County Democrats collected multiple bags/boxes of non-perishable food and personal care items when they met recently in Wellsville. The collected goods were donated to the Catholic Charities Joyce Family Food Pantry. This service project is one of the ways the Democratic Committee lives its motto: “Serving our Community.”

The final COTS for the month of July was held in the Educational Unit of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church. 

This week’s concert is scheduled for the side lawn of St Gabriel’s Catholic Church, if the weather cooperates.  The concert will feature RSVP with Joel Anderson. 

Plans are in the works for the grand opening of the Port Allegany Town Square to be held at 5 p.m., August 22nd.  The concert, sponsored by the PAWC will follow at 6 p.m. and feature the music of Randy Andreano.  Details will be announced as they become available. 

The 2024 Break the Chains Festival was held Friday and Saturday in Coudersport. 

The location was changed due to renovations at the Port Allegany Town Square.  The BTC Coalition was grateful to the Coudersport Chamber of Commerce and the entire Coudersport community for welcoming the festival on such short notice. 

The event featured inspirational speakers, music and entertainment as well as a Kid’s Corner with crafts and face painting.  BTC is a non-profit organization whose focus is drug and alcohol addiction and self harm and suicide awareness and prevention. 

The event also included food vendors and organizations with booths such as ADAS and Narcotics  Anonymous who offered hope and help to those in need. 

The Port Allegany High School Class of 1979 gathered at the VMI (Veterans Memorial, Inc.)  for the 45th anniversary of their graduation.  MC for the evening was Barry Bova.

OLEAN, N.Y., July 29 – Nine local students recently received Big 30 scholarships, managed by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.

Established by the Big 30 Athletic Fund Committee, the Big 30 Athletic Fund at CRCF supports the organization’s effort to provide scholarship funding to deserving student athletes in the region served by the Big 30, including Allegany and Cattaraugus counties as well as areas of northwestern Pennsylvania.
