Motorists are advised that a two-year embankment stabilization project continues on Route 44 between Route 973 and Waterville in Cummings Township and between Route 220 and Torbert Lane in Watson Township, Lycoming County.

The week of Tuesday, November 12, 2024, the contractor, Glenn O. Hawbaker, will begin removing the traffic signals and temporary barrier between village of Ramsey and 0.5 mile north of the Pine Creek Inn in Cummings Township.

Week two of PAHS Seniors visiting Rotary took place November 7 at the Port Allegany Moose Lodge.  Azriel Luk is the son of Stephanie and Randy Taylor and the grandson of Barb Bockoras.  He is a member of the Class of 2025 at PAHS and attends the Seneca Highlands Career and Technical Center. 

Rotarian Joe Lashway presented Sarah Lonzi with a check for the United Way of Bradford (McKean County). The presentation was made following the regular weekly meeting of the club.  Lonzi was the guest speaker for the day.  She is the Director of the United Way.

Emporium, PA – This holiday season, the Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library is kicking off two beloved traditions – the Cards for Troops and Holiday Book Gifting Programs – to spread cheer and give back to both our community’s children and those serving abroad. These initiatives launch this week, bringing the spirit of the holidays to Emporium!

Cards for Troops: Crafting Gratitude Across Borders

Starting now through December 7, the library’s Cards for Troops program invites young creators and families alike to make personalized holiday cards for military service members. These heartfelt creations will join Emporium’s Military Christmas Boxes, delivering messages of appreciation and festive joy to those serving far from home.

• Get Crafty! Pick up a Take-Home Craft Kit at the library, located at 27 West 4th Street, Emporium. Kits are packed with a blank card, festive stickers, pre-written messages to personalize, and other fun decor materials to bring each card to life. Glue sticks are available upon request, and creators are encouraged to add their personal touch with markers, crayons, or colored pencils from home.
• Return Deadline: All completed cards should be returned to the library by December 7 for inclusion in the Christmas Boxes.

The Rotary Club of Bradford volunteered at and sponsored a hotdog luncheon Friday at Futures Rehabilitation Center in Bradford. Pictured left to right are Margie Kibbie, Futures; Rotarian, Steve Morgan, President and CEO of Futures;

Friday’s program featured DJ Benzo (AKA club president Ben Kirsch) who played classic and contemporary tunes. The program participants at Futures loved the music and some
even had an impromptu dance party! The program was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bradford with a matching grant from Rotary District #7280.

I’ve seen a lot in my life. I served my country in the military and traveled to parts of the world where people faced hardships I couldn’t have imagined growing up in Western New York. But what really breaks my heart is that, here in our own community, I’m now seeing hunger on a scale I never thought possible.

OLEAN, NY – Olean General Hospital (OGH), a Kaleida Health facility, will be hosting open interviews on Thursday, November 14 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will take place in the Education Center, located on the first floor of the hospital.

Open interviews will be coordinated for all departments, clinical and non-clinical. OGH is hiring for various positions at all levels within the organization from entry level to management. Entry level positions include food and nutrition, housekeeping, nurse assistants, and patient access. Nursing recruitment continues to be a main priority for the organization from LPNs to RNs in multiple departments throughout the hospital. Job offers to qualifying applicants will be made on the spot!
