Thank you to all of our Farmers Market supporters. Due to the snowy and frigid weather, THE MARKET FOR THIS SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7TH HAS BEEN CANCELLED. Stay warm and safe.
* Beginning in January 2025 the Farmers Market will be the first Saturday of each month until May. The Saturday dates are January 4, February 1, March 1, and April 5. May 2025 the market will again be on the square
* Market times have been established after many trial times over the years. If you are not able to visit us and would like something particular from one of the vendors, please contact them directly. They are willing to try to accommodate your request.

The Annual Advent Ministerium Luncheons
The Annual Advent Ministerium Luncheons will be held on Wednesdays from noon until 1:00PM. Everyone is invited to attend even if you can’t afford the free will offering. The money that is collected is used throughout the year to help emergency situations in the community.
December 11th, the luncheon will be hosted by Park United Methodist Church located adjacent to the Court House.
December 18th will be at St. Eulalia’s Roman Catholic Church.

Conway A. Clayson
Conway A. Clayson, 78, of 9384 New Albion Rd, Cattaraugus, and a former Franklinville resident, passed away Wednesday, December 04, 2024 at home after a lengthy illness.
Born on May 10, 1946, in New York City, he was a son of Richard and Opal Fisher Clayson. On May 1, 1972, in St. Ana, California, he married the former Janice J. Scroggins who predeceased him on March 15, 2010.
He served in the United State Marine Corps from 1964-1985. He then went to work at Empire Cheese in Cuba as a Forklift Operator and retired after 22 years. In retirement he worked part time as a Nurse’s Aide at the Houghton Nursing Home and Eden Heights.

PA DCNR makes key investments in rural PA’s growing outdoor recreation and tourism sectors
The PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources this month announced $5,218,900 in grant awards for organizations and projects across the 13-county PA Wilds Conservation Landscape region that help to advance local efforts to grow the region’s tourism and outdoor recreation sectors in a sustainable way.
The investments were selected through a statewide competitive process as part of the Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2), a grant program DCNR administers annually.
This year’s C2P2 grants in the PA Wilds region cover a range of projects and partnerships, from providing funding for regional organizations that are helping to coordinate outdoor recreation, tourism and heritage development partnership networks, programs, mini grant programs and other critical capacity, to specific projects in individual communities related to stewardship, planning, and developing tourism, recreation and heritage assets.
The PA Wilds Center for Entrepreneurship (PA Wilds Center) received two grants totaling $406,000, to support its work coordinating the PA Wilds programs and partner networks, as well as to undertake key projects, such as standing up a bike rental/share operation in Marienville along the Knox-Kane Rail Trail; increased messaging around planned maintenance at the Kinzua Skywalk, a major attraction in the region; and undertaking the first of seven visitor-oriented recreation maps of the region, which the Center is developing in partnership with local communities and PA-based Purple Lizard Maps, a premier recreation mapping company with distribution across the Mid-Atlantic Region.
A. Kelsey Carleton, age 93, Of, Tioga, PA
A. Kelsey Carleton, age 93, died at home on Thursday, November 28, 2024. Kelsey was born on December 14, 1930 in Hammond, Pennsylvania, a son of the late George and Marguerite (Whitney) Carleton. He was married to Cleone (Cranmer) Carleton, who passed away in 2021, for just a few weeks shy of 72 years. After serving in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, he moved with his family to Tioga, PA where he resided at the time of his death.
Kelsey was a person of many and varied talents and interests. He was a big fan of baseball, first playing on and then coaching local Little League teams. Later his attention turned to gardening. Customers placed orders for his heaping quart baskets of delicious strawberries every year for decades; he was also known for his late summer potato crop which drew a huge following as well. He could debate the pros and cons of red vs. white potatoes with anyone. To take the gardening season into the fall, for many years he produced apple cider using an old-fashioned cider press.

PennDOT Restricts Certain Vehicles on Interstate 80
Due to the severity of the winter storm, PennDOT is temporarily restricting certain vehicles on Interstate 80 in north central Pennsylvania.
Vehicle restrictions reflect Tier 2 of the commonwealth’s weather event vehicle restriction plan (PDF), and are in effect on the following roadways:
· Interstate 80 between the Ohio State line and Exit 212 (Williamsport / Interstate 180) in Northumberland County.
Under Tier 2 restrictions, the following vehicles are not permitted on affected roadways:
· Tractors without trailers.
· Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded enclosed trailers, open trailers or tank trailers.
· Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded tandem trailers.
· Tractors towing loaded tandem trailers without chains or Alternate Traction Devices (ATDs).
· Enclosed unloaded or lightly loaded cargo delivery trucks/box trucks that meet the definition of a CMV.
· Passenger vehicles (cars, SUV’s, pickup trucks, etc.) towing trailers.
· Recreational vehicles/motorhomes.
· School buses, commercial buses and motor coaches, regardless of the availability of trains or ATDs.
· Motorcycles.
