12:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M –Snowshoeing for Beginners – Snowshoeing is a great way to explore your favorite trails in winter. Snowshoes and trekking poles will be provided. Program will begin indoors with an introduction to snowshoeing equipment and styles, followed by a guided practice instruction on level ground, then a short excursion on the trail. If snow depth is insufficient for snowshoeing, the indoor portion of the program will still be held, followed by a roughly 2-mile nature hike.

FSIS Issues Public Health Alert for Wegmans Frozen Fully Cooked Chicken Nuggets Due to Possible Extraneous Material Contamination

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert for frozen, fully cooked Wegmans breaded chicken breast nuggets that may be contaminated with extraneous material, specifically bone fragments. FSIS is issuing this public health alert to ensure that consumers are aware that this product should not be consumed. A recall was not requested because the product is no longer available for purchase.

HAZARDS…A snow squall accompanied by winds of up to 30 MPH which
can rapidly reduce visibility to less than one mile.

LOCATION AND MOVEMENT…At 718 AM EST, a snow squall was along a
line extending from near Liberty to near Ridgway and moving
southeast at 35 MPH.

Salamanca – On January 25^th, 2025, at approximately 0730 hours, Jason M. McGraw, 42, of Salamanca NY, was taken into custody. Deputies originally responded to an address on Erie Street for reports of a domestic in which McGraw was found to be the subject. Following an investigation into the domestic incident it was determined that McGraw shot off 4 rounds from a rifle in the proximity of the reported victim’s head and proceeded to break a window at the neighbor’s house with a whiskey bottle.

McGraw was transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriffs Office where he was processed on the following charges: Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2^nd Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm 2^nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 1^st Degree, Menacing 2^nd Degree, and Use of a Dangerous Weapon. McGraw was transported to the Town of Great Valley Town Court where he was released under supervision. McGraw is due in the Town of Salamanca Court at a later date for further court proceedings.

Motorists are advised there is a right (driving) lane restriction on Route 15 northbound at the Route 184 Exit/ Steam Valley in Cogan House Township, Lycoming County due to a tractor trailer fire.

The lone Senior to visit Rotary this week was Sophia Berhinger.  She is the daughter of Andreas and Claudia and has one brother  – Florian – who all live in Germany.  Her host family are Deric and Marklyn Brown.  Her school activities include being a member of the PAHS Cheerleading Squad, cheering for football, basketball and wrestling.  She is also a member of the Yearbook Staff.  Sophia will present the local Rotary Club with a program on her homeland at the February 13th meeting.  She was introduced to the club by Rotarian Anna Fair.

Farmer Study Circles offer an inviting space for new and beginning farmers—typically in their first 10 years of farming—to share experiences, address challenges, learn new strategies, and grow their skills alongside peers and seasoned experts. Guided by the interests and needs of participants, each gathering fosters a collaborative atmosphere where farmers actively shape the conversation, ensuring relevant and practical insights. This month, we will be reviewing example farm business plans.

ServSafe is a certification program developed by the Restaurant Association Education Foundation. The course meets certification requirements for individuals who are responsible for the safe handling of food in restaurants, schools, elder care facilities, lodges, bed and breakfasts, community centers, and other food concessions (organizations or businesses that sell or prepare food regularly). 

This course, taught by Rick Kralj, Penn State Educator, is scheduled for Thursdays, February 27 and March 6, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Education Council’s Coudersport office. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph will result in significant blowing
snow with greatly reduced visibility at times.

* WHERE…Monroe, Livingston, and Allegany Counties.

* WHEN…From 7 PM this evening to 9 AM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS…Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow
will significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions
could impact the Tuesday morning commute. Strong winds will cause
extensive tree damage and power outages.

INSTRUCTIONS: Periods of snow will result in snow covered roads and limited
visibilities. Slow down and use caution while driving.
