Linda D. Swift “beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister”
HEBRON, PA—Linda D. Swift, 79, of Hebron, passed away with her loving husband by her side, on Sunday, July 5, 2026, in UPMC Cole, Coudersport.
Born on Saturday, November 9, 1946 in Lancaster, PA, she was a daughter of Nelson W. Sr. and Gladys Alexander Shickley. On March 10, 2002, in Emporium, she married Milton F. Swift, who survives.
Linda was a graduate of Columbia Jr.-Sr. High School. She was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse for most of her working career. She also served as an advocate for the elderly in Potter County and Cameron County, helping secure medical benefits and services. In Cameron County she served as a hospice nurse and earlier in her career she was employed in Lancaster County as a visiting nurse.
She was a member of Hebron Seventh Day Baptist Church in Hebron. As a young teen, Linda with her musical talent, sang for Word of Life Ministries. She enjoyed camping, fishing, painting pictures, and most especially attending church services. She served as the music coordinator at her church in Emporium. Linda also volunteered at the school at her church. She was an active volunteer serving with the Roulette Volunteer Ambulance Company, with the Maytown Ambulance in Maytown, PA and with the East Otto Ambulance Association. She was also a volunteer for PCAAP (Potter County Animal Assistance Project). She loved her many animals over the years.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Milton; three sons, John Murphy, Jr. of Port Allegany, Thomas (Nancy) Murphy of East Petersburg, PA, and Scott (Darla) Murphy of Bolivar, NY; four grandchildren, triplets Alex (Lauren), Dagan (Haley) and Callie Jo, and a granddaughter, Kaitlin; four great-grandchildren, Cayden, Hudson, Rowan, and Brooks; two sisters, Brenda J. Rutter of Middletown, PA and Judy A. (Donald) Kulish of Columbia, PA; a brother, Nelson W. Jr. (Ruth) Shickley of Lewes, Delaware; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may gather from 10am to 12:30pm on Friday, July 17, 2026, in Hebron Seventh Day Baptist Church, 13 E. Carley Hill Road, Coudersport. A memorial service will follow at 1pm in the church with Pastor Steven Hinton, officiating. Linda will be laid to rest in the First Hebron Cemetery.

Linda’s husband has entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, Funeral Director/Owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
