Barbara A. Kellogg “beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister”
Barbara A. “Barb” Kellogg, 75, of Coudersport, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024, in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, after a long illness.
Born on Wednesday, December 29, 1948 in Hornell, NY, she was a daughter of Dean M. and June H. Clark Kellogg. On April 13, 1991 in Olean, NY, she married Joseph M. Hughes, Sr., who survives.
Bruce L. Leet, 85, of Smethport, passed away Sunday (November 3, 2024) at the Bradford Manor, Bradford.
He was born July 15, 1939 in Weston Mills, NY, the son of James and Gladys (VanGorder) Leet . On March 30, 1968, in Mt. Jewett, PA, he married Leola Fay Keller, who survives.
Mr. Leet was a 1957 graduate of Smethport High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. He worked for the PA Dept. of Transportation.
Vergil F. Hulings, 78, of Warren, PA., died peacefully, Saturday evening, November 2, 2024, at Warren Manor Nursing Home, Warren, PA. He was born March 20, 1946, in Redclyffe, Forest Co., PA. He was the son of Floyd and Julia Smail Hulings. He has resided in Warren County since 1970, moving there from Marienville, PA. He was a graduate of Milton Hershey School, where he learned the trade of carpentry. Vergil had served with the U.S. Navy, during the Vietnam War, working with the Seebees, from February 1966 until his honorable discharge in October of 1970. He was employed with United Refining Company as a maintenance foreman, retiring from there after many years employment. Vergil was a member of the Warren Eagles Aerie #313.
He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed fishing in several anglers fishing competitions. He was an avid hunter. Vergil and his son, Mark always hunted together when Mark was growing up. They spent hours in the woods. Mark was always amazed at how fast Vergil could run when it came to tracking his deer. Vergil enjoyed many summers at the beach with his family. He didn’t love the beach, but he loved watching his wife and kids enjoying the sunshine and waves. His greatest joys in his life were spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was extremely proud of them and loved to talk about each one of them. He was known at the Warren Manor as a great storyteller, telling the staff that he was feeding the neighboring deer apples by hand.
Robert L. Papalia, 67, of Warren, PA, died on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, in the Rouse Home after an extended illness.
He was born in Warren, PA on November 28, 1956, the son of the late Ross J. and Patricia Giltinan Papalia. Bob was a graduate of Warren Area High School, Class of 1974 and then attended Jamestown Community College. He worked as an Aging Care Manager for the Area Agency on Aging in Warren.
Dean J. Fazio, 72, of Warren, PA., died Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Warren Manor Nursing Home, Warren, PA., after a brief illness. He was born July 15, 1952, in Warren, PA.
Jeffrey S. Lane, 56, of Emporium, PA passed away at Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, PA on Thursday afternoon (October 31, 2024). He was born May 20, 1968 in Towanda, PA a son of the late Carl Walter John and Marianna Darling Lane.
He attended SRU School District. He worked as a logger for many years before working at GKN where he worked for over 25 years. He was a member of Bucktail Rod & Gun Club. He loved fishing, hunting, camping and anything outdoors.
Lowell B. Fryxell, 77, of Emporium, PA passed away at Penn Highlands DuBois on Tuesday night (October 29, 2024) following a brief illness. He was born November 4, 1946 in St. Paul, Minnesota a son of the late Bernard and Evelyn Johnson Fryxell. On February 9, 1968 in First United Methodist Church, Emporium, PA he married Rebecca “Becky” Thomas, who survives.
Lowell graduated from Taylor’s Falls High School in Minnisota. He served with the US Navy during Vietnam from March 1964 through November 1967. He worked many years at PA Pressed Metals and later retired from Embassy Powder Metals. Lowell enjoyed fishing and cooking but especially loved spending time with his family.

COUDERSPORT, PA—Connie A. Crown, 63, a lifelong resident of Coudersport, left the loving care of her family in her home and passed into the arms of the Lord on Friday, November 1, 2024, after a long illness.
Born on Saturday, April 1, 1961 in Port Allegany, she was a daughter of Edith Stewart Clark. On June 16, 1979 in Port Allegany, she married Bill F. Crown, who survives.
Connie was a graduate of Coudersport High School. She was a loving caregiver to her neighbors and church family who needed assistance.
Paul A. Buchsen “beloved husband, father, and businessman”
Paul A. Buchsen, 82, a lifelong resident of Coudersport, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
Born on Monday, June 22, 1942 in Coudersport, he was a son of George and Steffie Pransky Buchsen. On October 31, 1964 in St. Bibiana’s Catholic Church in Galeton, he married Dolores M. Rankin, who survives. He passed away one day short of their 60th wedding anniversary.
Maxine Rouse FAULISI, 94, of Corning, NY, passed away October 17, 2024 in her home after a brief illness surrounded by family.
Maxine proudly lived independently with support from her family. Born November 9, 1929, in Lawrenceville, PA, the daughter of Robert and Mary Wood Rouse. Maxine was an Honor Society member and graduated from Northside Blodgett High School. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Corning. In her early years, she taught Sunday school in the Presho Methodist Church. Additionally, she was employed by New York Telephone Company where she worked for several years and during this time she met her husband, Nicholas D. Faulisi, and they were married December 2, 1950.
Lorna R. Elmore of 615 Irving Street, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Lorna was born January 13, 1930 in Niagara Falls and was the daughter of Robert W. and Lois J. Barnes Easley. On November 27, 1954 in Olean she married Herbert Elmore who predeceased her on July 30, 1994.
Rich N. Anderson, 55, of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Penn Highlands Dubois.
He was born on August 1, 1969, in Ridgway, a son of the late Richard and Shirley Pontious Anderson.
Rich, a passionate outdoorsman and avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, found joy in working in his yard, tinkering with motors, and embarking on camping, hunting, and canoeing adventures. His selflessness in helping others has left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Carol Wheatley, 81, of Edgar St., passed away Friday (Oct. 25) in UMPC-Hamot. Born June 21, 1943 in Kane, she is the daughter of the late Harvey and Charlotte (Trimble) Simons. On Feb. 23, 1962 in Nebraska, she married David Wheatley, who she met while they were both in the service. He preceded her in death.
Carol had worked at the Kane Republican for many years.. She was a past member of the Kane Elks Auxiliary, and was a member of the choir at the Baptist church for many years. Currently she was a member of the Kane Community Methodist Church. Carol also had served in the Air Force.
She is survived by one son, David (Angela) Wheatley Jr. of Kane; three daughters, Connie (Richard) Ferguson of Aliquippa, Joyce Ann (Jim) Nelson of Wilcox and Nicole (David) Wheatley Causer of Kane; five granddaughters, Jennifer Coburn, Kelli West, Cheyenne Wheatley, Brandi Bell and Baya Causer; three grandsons, Noah Ferguson, Timothy Nelson and Levi Causer; a sister, Barbara (Frank) Danuski of Warren; a brother John (Karen) Simons of Kane and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Friends are invited to attend a viewing at the Cummings Funeral Home on Saturday (Nov. 2) from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 with the Rev. Calvin Cook officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor cemetery.

He was born on February 6, 1948, the son of the late Robert Roy and Marie May (Galusha) Baker. Russell worked many years for A& P Factory, Elmira, NY and more recently for Big M, Westfield. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, watching westerns and poker on TV, he also enjoyed playing cards and dice games.
Thomas R. Lananger: Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather
Thomas R. Lananger, 76, of 2656 Harland Ames Road, Richburg, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024 at the Olean General Hospital surrounded by his family.
Born on December 15, 1947, in Bradford, Pennsylvania, he was a son of Charles I. and Mary E. Champlin Lananger. On June 25, 1966, in West Clarksville he married the former Mary E. Schultz who survives. Together they enjoyed 58 years of marriage.
Mary Ann Schlimm, 90, of Chestnut Street, St. Marys, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
She was born on July 24, 1934 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late John and Gertrude Feldbauer Hupfer.
On May 4, 1957, in Queen of the World Church, she married the late Paul G. Schlimm, who preceded her in death on March 20, 1997. Together they were blessed with nearly 40 years of marriage.
Nettie B. Treat, age 85 of Westfield passed away at her daughter’s home in Elkland surrounded by her loving family on Monday, October 28, 2024.
Born August 24, 1939 in Elmira, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ernest W. and Hattie Mae (Adams) Tillotson. She married Lloyd S. “Bucky” Treat on March 12, 1960 in Little Marsh, together they shared 57 years until his passing on December 1, 2017.
James B. “Chip” NEWARK, 77, of Belmont, NY, died Monday, October 28, 2024 in his home.
Born May 11, 1947, in Wellsville, he was the son of James Herman and Angeline Zeznick Newark. On June 30, 1973, in Immaculate Conception Church, Wellsville, he married Sara A. Harder, who survives. A 1965 graduate of Wellsville Central School, he was employed by Verizon as a cable maintenance technician, retiring after 35 years. Chip was a member of Telephone Pioneers, Wellsville Lions Club, and a life member of the Wellsville Moose.
Jay C. Meabon, 76, of 35 Edgewood Road, Bradford, passed away Monday, October 28, 2024, at his residence.
Born on July 7, 1948, in Bradford, he was the son of the late Geoffrey “Jack” J. and Shirley R. (Hallock) Meabon. He was a 1966 graduate from Bradford High School.
Robert J. Ewing Jr., 62, of St. Marys passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Penn Highlands Elk, following a brief illness.
Robert was born on September 12, 1962, in Ridgway, to the late Robert J. Ewing Sr.
Robert was employed as a machinist for many years and greatly enjoyed what he did. He was very mechanically minded and was a jack-of-all-trades. He could do anything from working on car engines to building houses. One of Robert’s favorite hobbies was researching his family history. He had built up a family tree that went all the way back to the early 1400s. He also enjoyed flying drones and going for rides on his electric bike.
Hal L. Johnson, 67, of Wellsboro, passed away Friday October 25, 2024, in his home surrounded by family. He was born November 25, 1956, in Blossburg to Fred and Frances (Starkweather) Johnson. He attended Wellsboro schools, and on June 2, 2001, married Mary Pam Focht with whom he shared 22 years of marriage. Hal was a maintenance manager for Quality Inn.
Hal was a loving son, brother, father, and husband, with ten grandchildren who he loved very much. He was a quiet man who never sought the spotlight, who’s friendship was deeply valued by many who got to know him.
I’ve done well. Those were some of her last words spoken into the world. Yes, Joyce, you have done well and will be greatly missed. Joyce Yeagle died on October 25, 2024. Joyce loved volunteering, spending time with family and was a fierce bingo player. Lady Luck was often on her side and she loved her trips to the casino.
Born on March 29,1941 in Warren, PA, she was the daughter of the late Grace Park Knapp and Charles Knapp. Joyce worked hard to support her family throughout the years. She worked at Penn Bank, was a teacher’s aide at the Warren County School District and was an administrative assistant at Berenfield Steel Drum. All the while, Joyce could be seen on the sidelines of her three boys sporting events, home and away in her beloved role as mother and cheerleader. She also believed in giving back to her community and was a member of the Glade and Pleasant Township Volunteer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. She was a trained EMT and a long time volunteer at Warren General Hospital.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen Ann Kartesz, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and matriarch of our family, who left this world on October 25, 2024. Helen was born to Edward and Dona Depto on December 15,1946, and was the eldest of her seven siblings, Paul, Sue, Elda, Randy, Jane, Lisa, and Jay. The love Helen exhibited for her dear siblings was a true testament to her nurturing spirit. Helen lived a life full of love, compassion, and unwavering support for her family. Helen Graduated from Kane area High School and obtained her teaching degree from Kent State University.
Helen married her husband, Andrew Charles Kartesz, on June 17th, 1972. She spent 52 of her 77 years as a devoted wife, always cherishing their lifelong love grounded in partnership, laughter, friendship, and kindness. As a mother, Helen nurtured their two sons, Dr. Andrew Charles Kartesz (Chelesea Leigh Vaughan) and Dr. Kevin Joseph Kartesz (Kara Christine Kartesz), with boundless love, instilling in them the values of respect, faith, hard work, and compassion. Helen took immense pride in her role as a grandmother to her four grandchildren, Chase and Elise Kartesz and Blake and Austin Kartesz. She adored her grandchildren, showering them with affection and creating countless memories that they will cherish forever. Anyone who knew Helen knew that being a grandmother brought Helen unparalleled joy.
Anne Lindquist, 87, passed away Saturday (Oct. 26) in the Lutheran Home at Kane, where she had resided for several years. Born Dec. 16, 1936 in Kane, she is the daughter of the late Alf and Doris (Alexis) Benson. On Sept. 7, 1956 in Kane, she married George Lindquist, who preceded her in death.
Anne had worked as a nurses aide at the Lutheran Home at Kane for over 35 years. She was a member of Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church and a past member of the Kane VFW.
