A Thank You From The Coudersport Rotary To Speaker Casey Klesa
On September 16, 2024, Coudersport Rotary Club hosted Casey Klesa, Senior Data Communications Specialist at UPMC, as our speaker. Casey Klesa is the grandson of Rotarian Jim Plotts.
Casey has worked in Information Technology (IT) for 25 years. His interest started when he was 8 or 9 years old, when his grandfather, Rotarian Jim Plotts, set him down at a computer. He is thankful to have been exposed to this field at an early age. In college, he majored in Information Systems. He also worked at college, maintaining their computer labs and teaching courses. He started in programming but developed an interest in the hardware end of things. One of his professors was the Chief Information Officer at UPMC, and frequently came to Casey for ideas, which worked!
Upon graduation, he was offered a position at Susquehanna Health, where he started in 1999. Casey is responsible for security, server teams, infrastructure and maintenance, for voice (phone systems), computers, printers, and servers at 6 hospitals, 45 doctors’ offices, and 20,000 devices including phones, laptops, printers and their connections. His role is crucial in getting the medical results and information to provide your care. He has been a jack-of-all-trades, maintaining PC’s, servers and networks. There is a security team but he has to understand their issues in order to protect patient data and privacy. There
are security cameras operating 24/7. His goal is 99.999% up time.

The Tioga County Historical Society has been awarded an $8,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) to help offset general operating expenses, Rep. Clint Owlett (R-Tioga/Bradford) announced today.
“Our historical society provides a valuable window into our past through multiple facilities it operates across the county,” Owlett said. “I am happy to see the Commonwealth supporting this important service to the community.”
The Tioga County Historical Society operates the Robinson House Museum and the Ladd Genealogical and Historical Research Library at 120 Main St. in Wellsboro, which is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., except for federal holidays. The historical society also operates the Tioga County Farm, Mine and Lumber Museum in Whitneyville, as well as the Osceola Blockhouse, an 1835 log house in Osceola Township.
The grant was awarded through PHMC’s Cultural and Historical Support Grant Program. The program provides general operating support to museums and official county historical societies that are not directly supported by other state agency operating support programs.
Introduction to Excel (Excel I) and Intermediate Excel (Excel II) Classes Scheduled
Unleash your productivity and take control of your data! Do you manage large sets of numbers, names, dates, or other pieces of information? If so, then you need to know how to create worksheets to manage, store, organize, and even analyze this information. Excel, Microsoft’s powerful spreadsheet software, is the most widely used program for these tasks, and most workplaces want new employees to have a basic understanding of Microsoft Excel.
September 9th Metting’s Speaker Was Rotarian John Lenox

Rotarian John Lenox spoke about the Coudersport Chamber of Commerce at our September 9, 2024, meeting at Sweden Valley Manor.
John is on the Coudersport Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. The Board includes local business people: Board President, Kelly Bruno; Dennis Goodenough, Lisa Brennan, Shelly Butler, Caroline Powers, John Stilson, and John Lenox.
The Chamber’s goal is to get a better business atmosphere in our community, “butts in the seats and heads in the beds” at restaurant and hospitality businesses.
The Chamber is designing a website. They would like the website to list events held by Rotary and other organizations.
They meet every other Monday at Vinnie’s or Fickinger’s and meetings are open to the public once a month. They are looking for volunteers to help with events that support local businesses.

Let’s Treat Hunger as the Local Crisis It Is
By Kelsey Boudin

Of all local problems, hunger stands at the center as both a cause and symptom of poverty. Yet hunger isn’t treated like a central issue worth solving to improve the socioeconomic fabric of our communities.
