Alan “Al” Dickerson, 63, Of Pittsburgh

Alan “Al” Dickerson, 63, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 11, 2026, from complications of a lengthy illness.
Alan was born in Coudersport, Pennsylvania, to the late Orin and Louella (Geer) Dickerson. After graduating high school, he attended a technical school to study journalism, beginning a lifelong appreciation for photography and antiques.
Alan was a creative thinker and an excellent problem solver. He was a loving and devoted husband whose kindness, patience, and unconditional love touched everyone who knew him. He shared over ten loving years of marriage with his wife, Melody Nowak-Dickerson, treating her like a queen and being treated like a king that built a life filled with love, respect, and companionship.
Alan worked for many years at the Potter Enterprise Newspaper as a darkroom technician, where he combined his technical skill with his passion for photography. His love for antiques and photography later led him to own and operate his own businesses in both fields.
He had a deep appreciation for history, and many vacations were spent visiting historical destinations or enjoying quiet hikes in the woods. Alan loved watching sports, especially cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was also an avid dog lover, particularly fond of Shiloh Shepherds, and enjoyed spending time outdoors in the warmer months.
In addition to his parents, Orin and Louella (Geer) Dickerson, Alan was preceded in death by his former wife, Mildred Ayers.
He is survived by his loving wife Melody Nowak-Dickerson; his three sisters, Sharon Putt (Jeff), Pat Shepard (Ron), and Peg Harrier; as well as one niece, 3 nephews, a great-nephew. He is also survived by his stepchildren: Marshall (Carley) Huffman, Josh (Nicole) Huffman, and Echo (Al) Fortin, along with six step-grandchildren (his buddy Ruger, Joshua, Rowan, Kaleb, Jordan and Lexi) and one step-great-grandson (Arden).
2 Celebrations of Life will be held in Alan’s honor.
The first will take place on May 30, 2026, at Boyce Park from 11am-2pm – Hillcourt Pavilion, 675 Old Frankstown Road, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The second will be July 12th at Mitchell Park from 1pm-4pm S. Main St. Coudersport, Pa 16915 Alan will be remembered for his gentle spirit, creativity, love of history, and the deep devotion he showed to his family and those he loved.
