Mary Ellen Bushey, 72, of Bradford, PA formerly of Salamanca, NY
Mary Ellen Bushey, 72, of Bradford, formerly of Salamanca, NY, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023 at her home.
She was born on March 5, 1951 in Salamanca, a daughter of the late Donald and Mary McMullen Rupple.
She was a 1969 graduate of the Salamanca Central High School. She was a graduate of Fredonia University; where she earned her bachelor’s degree.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Salamanca (the former St. Patrick’s Catholic Church) and St. Bernard Catholic Church. She was a member of the New York State Teacher’s Union. She loved to knit, read, work on puzzles and spend time with her grandchildren and great granddaughter.
She was employed as an Elementary school teacher at Prospect Elementary School, Salamanca, prior to working for Bush Industries and BOCES; where she taught computer technology until her retirement. After retirement she went back to work at the YMCA Kids Zone, Salamanca before finally retiring from the Dickinson Center, Bradford; where she was a receptionist.
She is survived by one daughter, Angela (Joseph) Cobb of Bradford; one son, Ryan (Bethany) Bushey of Randolph, NY; one sister, Donna Rail of Salamanca; six grandchildren, Cody Cobb, Sydney (Nick) Shay, Loganne Bushey, Ashton Bushey, Ryanne Bushey and Austin Bushey; one great granddaughter, Dahlia Cobb and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents; she was also preceded in death by one brother, Norman Rupple.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 11, 2023 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Salamanca. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10:00 AM in the church with the Rev. Moses Ikuelogbon as celebrant.
Burial and committal services will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca.
