LAST THREE PERFORMANCES OF HAMILTON GIBSON’S LAUGH-OUT- LOUD PRODUCTION OF “EXIT LAUGHING” ARE THIS FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY MARCH 10, 11 AND 12
At 7:30 p.m. this Friday and Saturday, March 10 and 11 and at 2:30 p.m. this Sunday, March 12 are the last three performances of Hamilton-Gibson’s production of the laugh-out-loud adult comedy “Exit Laughing” in the Warehouse Theatre at 3 Central Avenue in Wellsboro.
For nearly 30 years, Connie (Deb Sawyer), Leona (Natalie Kennedy), Millie (Robin Gaige) and Mary have been playing a card game once a week at Connie’s home. Then, Mary dies.
So, they “borrow’” Mary’s ashes from the funeral home for one last card game, which turns into the wildest, most exciting night of their lives.
If applause and laughter are any indication, the 5-member cast of “Exit Laughing” has a big hit on their hands.
“I just couldn’t stop laughing,” said Debbie Calkins of Mansfield. “When I think about it I start laughing. This show is outstanding because of the way the play is written; the surprising moments, some really funny and others really touching; the way the cast members relate to each other on stage; the set, costuming and acting. Everyone should go and see it.”
Bob Blair of Wellsboro said, “I didn’t really know much about this play but the more it went on I realized how amazing it is. I was laughing my butt off. I would recommend it to anyone.”
“My four Williamsport friends came up to see ‘Exit Laughing’ with me,” said Angel Goodwin who Iives in the Wellsboro area. “Back in the day (1980s and 1990s), we were a force to be reckoned with. We called ourselves the Fab 5, and the bars and clubs in and around Williamsport didn’t know what hit ’em. We had a lot of fun, had lots of laughs and will be there for each other until the end. This terrific little play reminded us of us,” she said.
“We went to the Sunday matinee and had a blast. We laughed through the whole play. The acting was phenomenal. The actors had great timing and we all loved it,” Goodwin said.
Admission is $16 for adults and $8 for youth 18 and under although the show is not recommended for children. Tickets are available online at hgp.booktix.com or by calling 570-724-2079.
