Wellsboro, Pa., July 22, 2026 – UPMC Wellsboro has upgraded its mammography technology, ensuring advanced breast imaging capabilities are accessible to patients close to home.

The new mammography machine is of the highest industry standard and includes updated software designed to support more precise imaging. The enhancement builds on UPMC Wellsboro’s existing high-quality mammography services while giving radiologists additional tools to review breast tissue in greater detail.

The system also includes computer-aided detection, or CAD, which highlights areas of interest for radiologists to evaluate more closely, an important benefit for patients with dense breast tissue, where overlapping tissue can make images more complex to interpret.
