Youngsters to Have Fun Playing with Kittens and Learning about Cats during Free Deane Little Beans Program This Saturday, Oct. 10

Aurora plays with a crinkle ball.
This Saturday, Oct. 10 from noon to 1 p.m., youngsters ages 3 to 12 are invited to participate in the free Deane Little Beans program Fun with Cats in the lobby at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro. Free snacks will be provided.
Jill Hall of the Tioga County Cat Project is bringing eight healthy kittens, 12 to 14 weeks old, for the children to play with and cuddle. She will provide catnip toys and treats for playtime with the kittens.
Hall will also share interesting and unique facts about cats with the children and invite them to play Cat Bingo for prizes, like lollipops, if there is time.
The kittens have been vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped, and are available for adoption.
“Those who want to adopt a cat or kitten can start the process by visiting the Tioga County Cat Project website to download and fill out an application,” Hall said. “I will also be bringing applications with me in case a parent or other adult wants one to take home and fill out. None of the kittens have been spoken for yet.”
The four males are: Aladdin, a gray tiger with four white feet, the adventurer and loves to play; Lil Burrito, all black, quite independent but loves to be near people; and Blizzard, white with a spot of gray and blue eyes, and Avalanche, white long fur, both love people and cuddling and are always purring.
The four females include: Jasmine, all black, likes to observe and would enjoy a quiet home; Aurora, a tortoiseshell with four white feet, likes a high-rise perch; and two orange cats, Elsa (marbled with swirl patterns), is quiet, preferring to watch and observe and loves playing with ribbon toys, and Anna (tiger-striped), loves boxes and playing with a toy mouse with feathers for a tail.
A parent or adult is asked to preregister (RSVP) youngsters for this program online at deanecenter.com. For more information, call 570-724-6220 or email director@deanecenter.com.
