WELLSBORO COMMUNITY CONCERT ASSOCIATION TO PRESENT NATIONAL TOURING ARTICE GREG PICCOLO AND HEAVY JUICE SATURDAY APRIL 25

In addition to great music from national touring artist Greg Piccolo and Heavy Juice, there are other reasons not to miss the Wellsboro Community Concert Association’s last concert of the 2025-2026 season. It will be at 7:30 p.m. next Saturday April 25 in the Coolidge Theatre at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts 104 Main Street in Wellsboro.
Piccolo is nominated for a prestigious 2026 Blues Music Award by The Blues Foundation in the “Instrumentalist-Horn” category. He is known for his work with his own band Greg Piccolo and Heavy Juice, which he started in 1994,and for coming to national prominence as a tenor saxophonist, lead vocalist, songwriter and bandleader from roughly 1971-1994 as a key member of Roomful of Blues, an American jump blues and swing revival big band based in Westerly, Rhode Island where Piccolo was born and raised. The 47th Annual Blues Music Award will be held in Memphis, Tennessee on May 7th, shortly after Piccolo’s Wellsboro performance.
His Blues Foundation nomination highlights his enduring impact, soulful tenor saxophone, and his legendary career in blues that spans more than 60 years.
He captivates audiences with his timeless performances and unmatched artistry. Piccolo has never shied away from creating an engaging experience for his fans ensuring that each show is as unique as it is memorable. Spontaneous with no setlist, Piccolo is driven by the energy of the moment.
His unwavering commitment, and skillful tenor saxophone playing, unique vocal style, and charismatic stage presence have earned him a respected place among the best in the music industry.
Piccolo is a monster tenor sax man who has played with some of the biggest names in the business. He has collaborated with Pat Benatar, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Vaughan, including a multi-year stint with Jimmie’s Tilt-A-Whirl Band, Eric Clapton, and Big Joe Turner, among many others.
On stage at Wellsboro with Piccolo will be Shinichi Otsu at the piano and on bass, and special guests Bobby Ruggiero on drums and Mike Williams on guitar. Otsu has performed with Piccolo for 27 years. Ruggiero was the longtime drummer for Van Morrison and has also played with Natalie Cole, Tom Jones, and Eric Clapton among others. Williams has opened for George Thorgood , Johnny Lang and Eric Clapton to name a few.
His show will be an unforgettable night of exceptional traditional Jazz flavored with blues, classic rhythm and blues and some rock and roll.
At Wellsboro, Piccolo and Heavy Juice may play new songs from their most recent album, “Who knows what the future holds?” which will be released on June 19th of this year.
