Second Chance participating in Raise the Region
Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries is proud to participate in this year’s Raise the Region, the area’s largest online giving event. From 6 p.m. on March 12 through 11:59 p.m. March 13, make a donation to Second Chance at www.raisetheregion.org/organization/Second-Chance-Animal-Sanctuaries to help local animals in need.
According to the website, “Raise the Region® is a powerful 30-hour online giving campaign that unites community members in supporting local nonprofits. This initiative is designed to highlight and empower the vital work of these organizations, enabling them to address the growing needs of North Central Pennsylvania and create more vibrant communities.”
Organized by the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania, Raise the Region is open to nonprofit organizations in Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, Tioga or Union counties meeting certain criteria. The event not only allows organizations to raise funds from donors, but also earn extra monetary prizes or stretch funds. This year, with support from generous partners, “Over $100,000 in prizes will be available to our participating nonprofits to multiply the impact of donations received during Raise the Region,” according to Raise the Region’s website.
Last year, Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries was the grateful receipt of more than $7,000 given during Raise the Region. These funds helped provide critical vet care to dogs and cats entering the shelter’s care. Second Chance’s veterinarian expenses from 2023 to 2024 increased by $10,000, and this year, they’re expected to reach nearly $65,000. To help offset this, Second Chance has set a goal to raise $10,000 during Raise the Region.
Your contribution, no matter the amount, will help local dogs and cats get their second chances at great homes and healthy lives. Only funds given during the designated time period on Raise the Region’s website will count toward this goal, and provide Second Chance additional chances for prizes or stretch funds. Give starting at 6 p.m. March 12 through 11:59 p.m. March 13 at www.raisetheregion.org/organization/Second-Chance-Animal-Sanctuaries.
In addition to Second Chance, many other nonprofit organizations serving Tioga County are participating. All will be listed on Raise the Region’s website.
