SEASON KICKOFF FOR THE HAMILTON-GIBSON TREBLE CHOIR IS NEXT THURSDAY, AUG. 17, 2ND TO 8TH GRADE SINGERS CAN REGISTER FOR CHOIR FOR FREE
The 2023-2024 Season Kickoff for the Hamilton-Gibson Treble Choir begins at 10 a.m. next Thursday, Aug. 17 at His Thousand Hills Retreat Center in Delmar Township, near Wellsboro.
The kickoff will give fifth through eighth grade girls and boys who have already joined the Treble Choir or are considering joining, a chance to get to know one another and dig into the new music they will be singing. The day will end with a potluck dinner for the choir and parents who will stay to listen to what the choir worked on during the day, and to find out about the upcoming season.
Discussed will be the Treble Choir’s performance opportunities, fund-raising, the 2024 spring performance trip to Maryland, and advanced planning for the choir’s proposed European trip in the spring of 2025.
The Treble Choir’s concerts will feature guest artists. This fall, Carter Route, a Mansfield University student with an incredible voice, will perform during the choir’s Autumn Chorale. He played the title role in MU’s production of “Phantom of the Opera.” Local band Drowsy Maggie will join the choir in performing at the Dickens of a Concert on Dec. 1.
Children may use the kickoff to try out for the HG Treble Choir, but advance registration is required. It’s free. For more information, call Treble Choir Director Thomas Putnam at 570-724-2079 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The HG Youth Choir for ninth to twelfth graders has been suspended this year to concentrate on the two younger choirs.
Fifth through eighth graders are the age groups that Hamilton-Gibson first started the HG Choral Program with in 1996.
There is still time for second through fourth graders to register for Choir, Too and fifth through eighth graders for the Treble Choir.
The first regular rehearsal for both choirs is Tuesday, Aug. 22 at the First Presbyterian Church at 130 Main Street in Wellsboro. Both choirs begin rehearsing at 4 p.m. The HG Treble Choir will rehearse until 5:30 p.m. and Choir Too until 5 p.m.
The HG Choral Program is community-based and open to singers from all races, creeds, socio-economic levels, and all levels of musical experience and typically come from Tioga County and beyond, and from all different schooling situations: public, private, home.
