Richard “Dick” A. Herzing, Sr., 72, of 1466 Rosely Road, St. Marys, passed away peacefully Friday, June 27, 2025, at his residence.
He was born July 18, 1952 in St. Marys, son of the late Aurelius and Virginia Lanier Herzing. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1970. He continued his schooling at Williamsport Community College and was employed at Suburban Builders and Osram Sylvania, where he retired. He traveled on hunting and fishing trips, volunteered as a basketball coach and Boy Scout leader, traveled to Georgia frequently for family visits, and was a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan.
On April 1, 1978, in Queen of the World Church, Dick married Rose Ann Herbstritt, who survives. They were blessed with forty-seven years of marriage.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his daughter, Renee Fox (Daniel) of Caledonia; two sons: Richard Herzing, Jr. and Ryan Herzing (Amanda), both of St. Marys; six grandchildren: Connor Fox, Augustus Herzing, Troy Herzing, Savannah Fox, Charli Herzing, and Atticus Herzing; his sister, Judith Wolfel (Richard) of St. Marys; brothers: Daniel Herzing (Susan) of St. Marys, Michael Herzing (Lynn) of St. Marys, and Timothy Herzing (Shelly) of Sunbury, PA; sister-in-law, Jane Williams (Fran) of St. Marys; brother-in-law, Dennis Herbstritt of St. Marys; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by a brother in infancy, David Herzing; a sister-in-law, Donna Herbstritt; and a brother-in-law, Allen Herbstritt.
Dick was a parishioner of Queen of the World Church. He was a member of the Eagle’s Club and a lifelong member of the St. Marys Sportsmen’s Club, where he spent years shooting trap and skeet and participating in Youth Field Day. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and playing guitar around the campfire while camping with friends. He loved to spend his time at a Six Pak show or supporting his grandchildren at their many sports events and activities, and was always up for a dish of ice cream.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Queen of the World Church on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 10:00AM with Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, celebrating.
