Those who preregister for the Laurel Festival 10K Foot Race on or before next Friday, May 29 at 4 p.m. at the Wellsboro Area Chamber of Commerce office or online by Saturday, May 30 at the chamber website at www.wellsboropa.com and pay the $25 entry fee will be guaranteed a free event T-shirt courtesy of First Citizens Community Bank on race day, Saturday, June 20 and be entered in the June 20 “Early Bird Drawing” with a chance to win $25 in Wellsboro Chamber Dollars to spend at any of the participating businesses.   

10K registration will continue online at www.wellsboropa.com from Sunday, May 31 until 11:59 a.m. Wednesday, June 17 and in person at the chamber office on weekdays from Monday, June 1 until noon on June 17. Those who register for the 10K on those dates will not be guaranteed a free event T-shirt and will not be entered in the “Early Bird Drawing.”   

Registration for the Two-Mile Fun Run/Walk, including payment of the $5 entry fee, is also being held on all those dates from May 29 through June 17 in person at the chamber office and online at the chamber website.

The Laurel Festival 10K Foot Race will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, immediately followed by the start of the Fun Run/Walk. 

Registration for the 10K and Fun Run/Walk, check-in and packet pickup will be at Packer Park on Queen Street in Wellsboro from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. on race day, June 20. The entry fee for the 10K is $25 and for the Fun Run is $5. Race day registrants pay in cash or by check. Those who preregister or register by June 17 can pay using a credit card.

The 10K’s challenging 6.2-mile course has rolling hills, paved and dirt surfaces, and exciting Pennsylvania Grand Canyon country views. 

Timing will be by Insta-Results. The Tioga County Amateur Radio Club will handle communications.  

Medals, certificates and other prizes will be presented to 10K male and female runners who finish in the top three over-all; finish first, second or third in each age category (19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and over) and to the oldest and youngest runners who cross the finish line in the fastest time.

Each Fun Run participant will receive a commemorative ribbon. The Fun Run first place female finisher and first place male finisher will each receive medals. 

Weis Markets is providing free post-race refreshments for all participants. 

To preregister online for the 10K or Fun Run by next Saturday, May 30, go to the Wellsboro Area Chamber of Commerce website at www.wellsboropa.com, click on “Forms” and on the drop-down menu click on “10K & Fun Run Application.” Fill it out and submit it with the $25 entry fee. Or, pick up an application at the chamber office at 114 Main Street in Wellsboro before 4 p.m. on Friday, May 29, fill it out and turn it in that day with the $25 entry fee.
