Elaine R. Meyers, 90, of Ulysses, formerly of Orchard Park, NY and Bolivar, NY, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, in the Hart Comfort House, Wellsville, NY.
Born on Friday, November 3, 1933 in Buffalo, NY, she was a daughter of Gordon E. and Ruth B. Farley Visseau. On August 8, 1953 in Washington, DC, she married Roxie G. Meyers, who passed away on June 30, 2011.
CARE Conducts Trainings for Local Daycares
CARE for Children has been conducting trainings, for Early Childhood Professionals, on milestones, developmental red flags, and the importance of developmental screenings for children birth to three in McKean County, Potter County and Warren County. Most recently, the CARE staff presented to the YMCA Child Care programs in Bradford and Oswayo Valley.

Bidders will be notified as to bid results and disposition of contract award. Proposed forms of contract documents are on file at the office of the Potter County Housing Authority, 109 Market Street, Coudersport, Pennsylvania 16915, and will be available for inspection.
Copies of the documents may be obtained by depositing $20 (nonrefundable) with the Potter County Housing Authority for each set of documents so obtained.
This sidewalk and stair repair project requires PA prevailing wage rates. A set of current rates will be available upon request by bidder. Contact information for the PA Department of Labor Wage Rate Division will be available for questions.
By making a Bid, the Bidder represents that (s) he has visited the site, (site meeting date will be set), become familiar with local Conditions, under which the work is to be performed, and has correlated these observations with the requirements of the proposed Drawings and Specifications. Sierra Stain LLC of Carson City, Nevada is recalling 3 water-based tattoo pigments, because they are contaminated with high concentrations of microorganisms which present a health concern to consumers. Commonly reported symptoms of tattoo ink associated infections include the appearance of rashes or lesions consisting of red papules solely in areas where the contaminated ink has been applied. Some tattoo infections can result in permanent scarring. Symptoms can be difficult to recognize, as other conditions (e.g. allergic reactions) may also present with similar findings.

UPMC in North Central Pa. Recognized in Statewide Organ Donation Challenge
Williamsport, Pa., August 26, 2024 – UPMC in North Central Pa. and two of its hospitals received statewide recognitions for their efforts to support and raise awareness about organ, eyes, and tissue donation.
UPMC in North Central Pa., which includes UPMC Cole, UPMC Muncy, UPMC Wellsboro, UPMC Williamsport, and UPMC facilities in Lock Haven earned third place as a Gift of Life Donor Program Top Performing Health Systems in The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania’s (HAP) 2024 Donate Life PA Hospital Challenge. At the hospital level, UPMC Williamsport received “Titanium” Gift of Life Donor Program Designation and UPMC Wellsboro earned “Platinum.”

PennDOT Potter County Maintenance Work Schedule for the Week of August 26
Clearfield, PA – Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced its schedule of maintenance activities in Potter County for the week of August 26. In addition to the work listed below, crews will also address shoulder washouts, pipe cleaning, bridge clearing, and other damage caused by Tropical Storm Debby on the entirety of Routes 1001 (Brookland Road), 1005 (Phoenix Road), and 1019 (Second Street/Whites Corners Road).

Penn College spotlight on men’s soccer
After reaching the United East postseason playoffs last season for the first time since 2018, Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s soccer coach Tyler Mensch is hopeful of more.
Penn College opens its season at 2 p.m. on Friday at Centenary University.
“Our preseason has started off strong as we had four days of a traditional preseason where we could practice twice a day. It’s the most preseason days I’ve had during my tenure at Penn College,” Mensch said.

Coy E. FANTON, 79, of Wellsville, NY, formerly of Andover, died Sunday, August 25, 2024 in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville.
Born July 8, 1945, in Wellsville, he was the son of Everett and Juanita A. Wright Fanton. He was a 1964 graduate of Scio Central School. On April 3, 1966, he married the former Bonita J. Moline, who predeceased him on July 2, 2008. A Vietnam War Veteran, he served honorably with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1965 – 1969. He served with the U.S. Army Reserves from 1972 – 1992. Coy was employed by Otis Eastern for 40 years, retiring as a superintendent in 2015. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. On July 5, 2014, in Whitesville, he married the former MaryLynn Van Pelt, who survives.

Anthony W. Mancuso, Jr., 81, of 733 Hall Avenue, St. Marys, passed away Friday, August 23, 2024 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
He was born May 14, 1943 in Reynoldsville, son of the late Anthony W. and Elizabeth Puskas Mancuso, Sr. He was a graduate of Reynoldsville High School and served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his service, Tony moved to St. Marys and worked at Eagle Express, loving every minute of his work as a truck driver for them.
On January 31, 1967, in Maryland, he married the late Patricia A. Snyder, who preceded him in death on May 10, 2015.

He was born May 25, 1961 in Ridgway, PA, son of the late Gerald “Jerry” Schneider (2018) and Shirley Woelfel Schneider (2014). He was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Elk County Christian High School, Class of 1979. He worked for Carbon/Graphite, Dippold Construction and Micale Construction. David also loved to build on his own and was very good at it.

Jack H. Peterson, 91, of Erie, passed away Thursday (August 22, 2024) at St. Vincent Hospital, Erie.
He was born February 15, 1933 in Bradford, the son of Floyd and Ethyle (Lovell) Peterson. On December 6, 1975, in Smethport, he married Lois M. Hicks, who died April 2, 2010.
Jack served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
He was employed by Continental Can Company until they closed and then he worked for GAF in machine maintenance until his retirment.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and camping. He loved coming to his camp in McKean County.

Born April 3, 1933, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Harry and Leona (Jacobs) Stewart. He attended Bradford High School.

Jackson J. “Jack” Taylor, 74, of Coudersport, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at UPMC – Cole, Coudersport. Jack was born on August 17, 1950, the son of the late Earl I. Taylor and Flossie E. (Pilon) Nichols, of Coudersport.
Jack was a member of the Coudersport Seventh Day Adventist Church. He also loved to fish and when younger, hunting. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening, music, and loved animals and his pets.
