Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, initiated and conducted by members of the Federation of Fly Fishers and Trout Unlimited, serves military personnel who have been wounded, injured, or disabled to aid their physical and emotional recovery by introducing or rebuilding the skills of fly fishing and fly tying and by using and enjoying these skills on fishing outings and as lifelong recreation. While initially focusing on the military personnel in the Washington, DC area, the Project has expanded nationwide and is offering its services and program to active military personnel and veterans in the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals throughout the country. The Project’s program provides basic fly fishing, fly casting and fly tying classes and clinics for the wounded and injured personnel ranging from beginners to those with prior fly fishing and tying experience who are adapting their skills to their new abilities. All activities and services are provided to the participants at no cost.  Fly fishing and tying equipment and materials are provided to the participants, including equipment that accommodates their special needs.

At 7 p.m. this Saturday, May 4, the Wellsboro Women’s Chorus and Wellsboro Men’s Chorus are presenting their annual Spring Concert along with special guests, the Wednesday Morning Musicales Chorus, in the United Methodist Church of Wellsboro at 36 Main Street.
     
The concert theme is “Here Comes the Sun.”  The three choruses will sing 21 songs, including Broadway and pop tunes. The concert will end with all three choruses singing “You’ll Never Walk Alone with Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”
 
The Wednesday Morning Musicales Chorus, directed by Diana Frazier with piano accompaniment by Marian Miller, will open the concert.  The 34-member group will perform “Favorites from “The Rat Pack” including “You’re Nobody ’Til Somebody loves You”, “Everybody Loves Somebody”, and “Come Fly with Me,”  “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,”  “Forever Young,”  “Sunrise, Sunset” with Dave Driskell on clarinet, and “I Only Have Eyes for You.”  
     
The 26 members of the Wellsboro Men’s Chorus, directed by Christina Simonis with accompanist Pat Davis at the piano will sing “ Gonna Rise Up,”  “Once Upon a Time,”  “Georgia,”  “The Creation,”  “My Lord, What a Morning,”  “Circle of Life,” with Dave Driskell accompanying on a recorder and “What a Wonderful World.”
     
The 35 members in the Wellsboro Women’s Chorus, directed by Diana Frazier with piano accompaniment by Judy Smithgall, will sing “Here Comes the Sun,”  “When Will I Be Loved,”  “My Fair Ladies,”  “They Can’t Take That Away From Me,”  “Jersey Boys,”  “You’ve Got a Friend,”  “Don’t Stop,”  “Stop! In the Name of Love,” and  “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”

Each of the three choruses welcomes new members. The Wellsboro Women’s Chorus rehearses Thursday nights at the Deane Center and the Wednesday Morning Musicales on Wednesday mornings at the Gmeiner Art and Cultural Center, both in Wellsboro. The Wellsboro Men’s Chorus invites new members who share their love of music and fellowship to participate in community events in area towns and churches. • A Mother’s Day Basket Class is being taught by master basket weaver, Cathy Snyder on Tuesday, May 7 starting at 4:30pm.  Students may choose to make an Irish Knitting Basket or Egg Basket. • Potter County Artisan Co-op is hosting a ‘10 Year Anniversary Celebration’ on Friday, May 10, from 6-8 pm.  Celebrate with live music by Jonathan Meade, wine tasting with Little Mountain Winery, food, door prizes and giveaways.  RSVP by calling 814-274-8165. 
• An Outdoor Photography Class will be held on May 11, starting at 9:00 am until mid-afternoon with Curt Weinhold.  This class is for all those who want to improve their outdoor photo skills. Bring cameras, lenses, tripod, and appropriate dress for the day’s weather.  Students will meet at the Artisan Co-op and drive about 15-20 miles to the class destination.  Class is $55.00.  Please call the Co-op to register. 
• The monthly Young Artisan Class with Laurie Angood and Danika DeCarlo will be held on Thursday, May 16, from 3-4:30pm.  Students will be painting ‘Bear with Trout’ in acrylic on canvas.  Appropriate for Grades 2 through 6.  Supplies and snack provided.  Price of the class is $25.00.
• Spa Night returns on Thursday, May 23 from 5 – 8:00 pm.  Cover is $10.00, spa services, including Reflexology, Foot Detox, Massage, and Facials, are an extra fee.  Refreshments served.  For more information, please call the co-op at 814-274-8165.
