Susan Marie Geist Bailey, age 65 of Westfield passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
Born April 15, 1959 in Norristown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Michael P. and Florence M. (Tustin) Phillips. Susan retired from Viant and enjoyed gardening, crafting (especially with gourds), cooking and entertaining. She loved spending time with her family.
Harold J. OUTMAN, Sr., 82, of Genesee, PA

Harold J. OUTMAN, Sr., 82, of Genesee, PA, died Saturday, August 10, 2024 in UPMC Cole, Coudersport, PA. Born April 29, 1942, in Coudersport, he was the son of Hubert and Nettie Button Outman.
He was employed by a dairy farm in Geneva, NY.
MCKEAN COUNTY MAN SENTENCED AFTER MURDER CONVICTION

District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that, following a sentencing hearing at the McKean County Courthouse, Anthony FENTON, previously convicted of Murder in the 3rd degree for causing the death of his girlfriend Tammy Prosser, was sentenced to 18 years to 36 years plus 1 year of consecutive reentry supervision.
Judge Kistler, specially presiding over the trial and sentencing, heard argument and testimony from the victim’s mother about the crime before imposing the sentencing. Letters were submitted by the victim’s two sisters and argument was made by the District Attorney for the maximum sentence. FENTON was convicted of Criminal Homicide – Murder 3; Aggravated Assault; Simple Assault; and Recklessly Endangering Another Person after a jury trial in June.

Beatrice I. “Bea” West, 92, of Millport, left this earthly journey and entered her heavenly rest on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in the Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY.
Born on Friday, December 18, 1931 in Rixford, she was a daughter of Clayton and Helen Holcomb Lawton. On August 16, 1958, she married her beloved husband, Burdett E. West, who passed away on March 18, 2009.
Bea was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School, Class of 1949 and a graduate of Arnot Ogden Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. Bea worked for several years as an industrial nurse prior to returning to her hometown. She later worked for the former St. Francis Hospital in Olean and for the Olean General Hospital, ending her nursing career at Hewitt Manor Nursing Home in Shinglehouse. She also worked for many years beside her husband in establishing the West Brother’s family business, Gas Field Specialists, where she was the office supervisor until her retirement.
Meet And Greet At Eddie’s On Main

Eddie’s on Main hosted a Meet and Greet for Port Allegany School District’s new superintendent, faculty and staff held at Eddie’s on Main Patio. Replacing Gary Buchsen who retired at the end of the school year, Mrs. Newell came from the Valdez City Schools in Alaska and served as the Director of Teaching and Learning. Mr. Oliver was transferred from the assistant principal/student services coordinator to the elementary replacing Tracy Kio who retired.
Replacing Mr. Oliver is Mrs. Bostjancic. She is a graduate of Slippery Rock University and earned her master’s degree from Edinboro University. She has worked previously as a special education teacher and supervisor.
The event was well attended and members of the community expressed appreciation to Eddie’s on Main for the opportunity to meet the 2024-2025 school administration and staff. School starts for students on August 21.
Port Allegany Women’s Club Welcomed Musical Artists Jon Meade And Dan Roche

The Port Allegany Women’s Club welcomed musical artists Jon Meade and Dan Roche at the most recent COTS The concert was once again held at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church Educational Unit due to weather. This week’s concert artist has yet to be determined. The following week, the event will once again be held on the Town Square following the Grand Opening which will begin at 5 p.m. Music will be provided by Randy Andreano. The PAWC will be hosting an Ice Cream Social during the grand opening ceremonies and the concert.

Berdina M. Dunn, 70, of Shinglehouse, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Sena Kean Manor, Smethport, after a short illness.
Born on Wednesday, December 9, 1953 in Cuba, NY, she was a daughter of Malcolm and Marjorie Burch Woodkirk. On December 16, 1979 in the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church, she married Arthur M. Dunn, who survives.
Berdina was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse. She was first employed at Galeton Production in Galeton and later by the former Market Basket in Shinglehouse. She retired from Northwest in Shinglehouse where she served as a bank teller for almost 30 years.
Richard Alden Killingstad, 84, of Wellsboro, PA

Richard Alden Killingstad, of Wellsboro, PA, passed away at the age 84 on Monday, August 5, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. Richard was born in Spring Grove, MN on March 21, 1940, to Harry and Johanna (Klegseth) Killingstad. Richard was the youngest of five children: Gordon, Harry, Jerome, and Joan (Nichols), all of whom predeceased him.
Richard spent his childhood residing in both Spring Grove and Winona, Minnesota, graduating from Winona High School in 1958. He had fond memories and often spoke of his time in Spring Grove – specifically working/living on the Kolsrud family farm. Shortly after graduation, he joined the United States Navy, serving until 1965, where he received specialized training in the electronics field. During his deployment in Virginia Beach, VA, Richard met and later married Dianne Webster of Wellsboro, PA on July 6, 1963. They were married for almost 58 years until her death on April 8, 2021.
Water Delivery in Galeton

Water Delivery in Galeton – Galeton residents have been without any water for nearly 48 hours. In photo is non-drinkable water being dispensed to residents at the parking lot of St. Bibiana Catholic Church in Galeton. The water buffalo containing the water that is used for flushing of toilets held 500 gallons was donated by the Lycoming County Sheriff’s Department. In addition, donations of cases and pallets of bottled water, food, and beverages were donated by various departments as well as gallons of drinkable water was donated by Matt Brown from Brown’s Produce. Geraldine C. “Gerry” Schloder, 78, of 111 Villa Road, St. Marys, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024 at her residence, with her family by her side, after an illness of the past three years.
She was born September 17, 1945 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Leo and Dorothy Frey Meyer. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a member of the first graduating class of Elk County Christian High School, Class of 1963. Gerry worked as a seamstress for over 50 years and was the owner of Gerry’s Bridal and Dress Shop from 1993 to 2000.
On September 19, 1964, in Queen of the World Church, Gerry married the late Paul Michael Schloder, who preceded her in death on September 8, 2023.

Lena Iannucci Kittilson, 84, of Coudersport, formerly of Port Allegany, passed away Saturday (August 10, 2024) at Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.
She was born July 31, 1940 in East Meadow, NY, the daughter of Joseph and Minnie Belle (Roper) Iannucci.
Mrs. Kittilson was a graduate of Port Allegany High School 1977. She worked for the Canoe Place Inn for many years along side her mother. She enjoyed scrapebooking and crafts, photography and traveling. She loved to cook and spend time with friends and family, and she loved her animals.
Cameron County Officials Update on Sheetz Closing
Sheetz is closing its doors in Emporium on September 29. Sheetz district manager notified the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce of the decision the same day employees were told of the closing. Immediately the chamber, Emporium Borough and Cameron County Commissioners began contacting the corporate office. Following two days of discussions it became clear that Sheetz is not interested in staying in the county. Company officials cited a fueling system that must be replaced and the current location which prevents expansion.
The property is owned by Sheetz and the site selector, Allen Stevens, says the fuel tanks will be removed, and the building and land will be offered for sale. Cameron County Commissioner Jessica Herzing expressed to Stevens that the process must be expedited to avoid an eyesore in the middle of downtown Emporium.
William Eugene McCafferty, 90, of 956 Fern Road, St. Marys, PA

William Eugene McCafferty, 90, of 956 Fern Road, St. Marys, passed away peacefully Friday, August 9, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born September 3, 1933 in a lumber camp in Sheffield, PA, the son of the late William A. and Mary Dogostine McCafferty. He was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School, Class of 1951 and continued his studies at Penn State University where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Forestry. His work life included work in forestry and survey consultation as well as a long career at Airco Speer Carbon.
On October 18, 1958, in Sacred Heart Church, he married, Ann Justine Garbic, who survives. They were blessed to share 65 years of marriage.
