Ruth Ann Middaugh 

Born into life January 23, 1940 — Born into Eternal life June 19, 2024

Ruth, “Loving Mother, Grandmother & Sister” of Scio New York, sadly left our world on Wednesday (June 19, 2024) surrounded by family.

She was born on January 23,1940, in the town of Ward and was the daughter of Morris and Doris Goodridge Ward. On May 31, 1958, in Wellsville, she married the love of her life, Ralph R. Middaugh, who passed away in 2017.

Ruth retired from Cuba Memorial Hospital with 32 years of service, where she was known for her dedication and compassion in the housekeeping department. She loved cooking and canning, especially her famous sugar cookies, and bringing friends and family together to share a meal at her table. Above all, she cherished the moments spent with her children, grandchildren and friends. Ruth always had a kind word and a listening ear, and her unwavering support will be deeply missed. She instilled in those around her the importance of family, hard work, and living life to the fullest.

Susan Louise Johnsen

Susan L. Johnsen, 84, of Warren, PA, died on Monday June 17, 2024, in Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Warren, after an extended illness.

She was born in Warren, PA, on September 8, 1939, the daughter of the late L. Edward and Alice Harrington Johnsen and resided in Warren her entire life. Susan was a graduate of Warren High School Class of 1957 and was a graduate of Jamestown Business College Class of 1963.  She was employed with the Warren County School District as a receptionist- Switch Board Operator for 30 years retiring in January 2003. Susan was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Paws Along the River, Warren Senior Center, and the Warren Co. Historical Society.

Richard Lee Collins Warner Sr.

Richard Lee Warner Sr., 89, of Sugar Grove, PA, died on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in the Warren Manor, with his loving wife by his side, after an extended illness.

He was born in Warren, PA, on October 29, 1934, the son of the late Harley Collins and Maud Sly. Richard was adopted and raised by Max Warner and Margaret Gourley. He attended Sugar Grove School and enlisted with the United States Marine Corps., serving from 1957-1963. Richard worked for the National Forge as a crane operator and retired in 1996 after 30 years. He was a member of the AMVETS Post # 50 and the Sugar Grove American Legion Post 758. Richard was an avid woodworker, enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He was the former owner and operator of the Warner Service Station in Lander, PA.

On April 29, 1961, Richard married Phyllis R. Houghwot in the 1^st Baptist Church in Frewsburg, NY, and they spent 63 loving years together.

Phyllis W. BECKHORN, 87, of Genesee, PA, died Wednesday, June 19, 2024 in her home.  Born March 1, 1937, in Harrison Valley, she was the daughter of Paul M. and Elva A. Van Pelt Walter.  On June 29, 1957, in Mills, she married Virgil E. Beckhorn, who predeceased her on May 7, 1991. 

 A 1955 graduate of Northern Potter High School, she studied at Hornell Business School from 1955 – 1957.  She was employed as a secretary by the Northern Potter School District for 41 years.  Phyllis was a member of the Ellisburg Union Wesleyan Church. 

Glenda D. Gerg, 63, of St. Marys, PA passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA, following a lengthy illness.

She was born on September 2, 1960 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Merle “Banana” and Adrienne Boyd Baumgratz.

On October 16, 1992, she married Timothy Gerg, who survives. Together they shared more than 30 years of love, laughter and marriage.

Glenda was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, class of 1978. She was a member of Queen of the World Church and worked at Morgan for more than 32 years. A very talented crafter, Glenda could often be found in her craft room making t-shirts or bedazzling her latest creation. After the holidays, Glenda would gather with her family around the kitchen table where they would work together on crafts and enjoy one another’s company. Glenda’s craft room in her home was one to be desired, and she loved to go shopping and find new items to add to it. 

Michael A. Causer, 74, of Dewey Ave. in Hazel Hurst, PA passed away Friday (June 14) at his residence.  Born Nov. 23, 1949 in Smethport, he is the son of the late Claude E. and Jennie (Cornelius) Causer Sr..

Michael had worked for many years at Futures Rehabilitation in Bradford, retiring in 2015. He loved fishing.

M. Susanne Zampogna (born Mary Susanne Shadman), 76, of 304 Walnut Street, Kane, PA passed away Tuesday (June 11, 2024) at her home. 

Born October 12, 1947, at Kane Summitt Hospital in Kane, PA. She was the daughter of Winfield McClellan Shadman and Margaret Jane Cartwright Shadman. 

Susanne was a graduate of Kane Area High School, class of 1966.  On October 21, 1967 she married Joseph Zampogna who survives.  Susanne lived in Kansas City, KS with her parents for a period of time as her husband served in active Army duty in Vietnam.  Upon completion of Joseph’s army duty, they returned to Kane, PA where they raised their family.  Susanne worked as a medical office secretary for Dr. Valdes for 17 years and as a library director at Friends Memorial Library for a number of years until she retired in 2011. 

Susanne was an active member at St. Callistus Church and served as a CCD aid. She volunteered at both Clay Street and Chestnut Street elementary schools as a PTA member, a homeroom mother, & assisted the school nurse.  She co-chaired both project graduation and the block parent program in Kane.

She truly loved the outdoors as shown by her activities in girl scouts; as a scout leader and a recipient of the Elizabeth Ann Seton Award for scouting in Erie, PA. She enjoyed camping with her family, fishing, and being in the sun by the water.  Other hobbies included bowling, reading, and word games such as scrabble & crossword puzzles. 

Port Allegany – Ricky L. Lawton, 68, of Smethport, formerly of Roulette and Coudersport, PA, passed away Wednesday (June 19, 2024) at Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.

He was born July 12, 1955 in Coudersport, the son of Robert and Louise (Nichols) Lawton.

Mr. Lawton worked for the Borough of Coudersport for many years and in many different capacities including the streets department, water department and sewer department.          

He is survived by two sons; Steve Lawton and Ricky L. Lawton, Jr., both of Coudersport, and one daughter; Elaine Eudy in Oklahoma.

Nine grandchildren and one sister    

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers

LITTLE GENESEE, NY—Karen L. Koch, 69, of Little Genesee, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in Wellsville Manor Care Center, Wellsville, after a long illness.
