Marilyn I. “Molly” Malone, 88 of 9400 Laidlaw Rd, Franklinville, and formerly of Hinsdale, passed away Wednesday, October 09, 2024 at Olean General Hospital after a short illness
Born on November 21, 1935, in Farmersville, New York she was a daughter of Jay and Ethelyn (Chamberlain) Brown. In 1958, she married John P. Malone who predeceased her on February 26, 2024.
Marilyn was a graduate of Hinsdale Central School Class of 1954 and three years later graduate as a Registered Nurse from the Buffalo School of Nursing.
She began her nursing career at Cuba Memorial Hospital before going to work at Olean General Hospital from where she retired after 30 years.
When her children were young, she was an active Girl Scout Leader and horse show mom always looking forward to when her girls would show horses at the Cattaraugus County Fair. At home she enjoyed gardening, watching the wildlife, baking, and raising cats and dogs throughout the years.

Beverly Joan Retzer, 92, formerly of South Avenue and Congress Street Apartments, Bradford, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Bradford Ecumenical Home.
Born April 24, 1932, in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late Horace W. and Bernice Elvira (Davis) Mines.
She graduated from Wilcox High School in 1950 and was a graduate of Jamestown Business College as a Medical Secretary. She worked for Samuel A. Dispenza, M.D. in Jamestown. Later, she worked at the Child Guidance Clinic, Social Services, and Cerebral Palsy Clinic at Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Beverly retired in 1993 after working 23 years as secretary to Widad E. Bazzoui, M.D., Medical Director of the Guidance Center.
On April 4, 1953, in the Presbyterian Church in Wilcox with Rev. T. Lambert officiating, she married Ernest N. Retzer who preceded her in death on November 19, 2014.
Catherine M. Cuneo, 76, of Buffalo and formerly of Hemlock Road, St. Marys, PA

Catherine M. Cuneo, 76, of Buffalo and formerly of Hemlock Road, St. Marys, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo.
She was born April 21, 1948 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Victor E. and Mary Margaret Henkel Marconi. Cathy was a lifelong resident of the area and was a retired office manager for PennDOT.
On August 14, 1976 in the Sacred Heart Church, Cathy married the late Charles J. Cuneo, who preceded her in death on July 21, 2013.

A memorial service will be held at Country Chapel Baptist Church, 109 Indian Creek Road, Eldred, at 11 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 12, 2024) with a luncheon to follow.

October 12th Final Farmers Market In Turtlepoint
This Saturday, October 12th, is the final Turtlepoint Farmers Market for the 2024 season! This event is located at the Turtlepoint Community Park and runs from 9-12! Birch and Twig will be coming with their mustard and vinegar varieties! As always, free samples will be available. Jenna-June will be returning with healing skin salves, body butters, bug repellent and body scrubs. Studio 7 Fashions and More will be setting up to showcase their latest items. The Peaceful Pages will be present selling all crocheted hand-made works! Thorny Bush Farm will be present to sell artisan honey blends. Quiet Acres will be present to provide baking supplies and handmade aprons.
Messy Mountain Organics is returning with vegan hand crafted soaps, as well canned goods and breads. Really Rural Woodworks will be returning where you will be sure to find a handcrafted bowl or gift. Larsen brothers will be selling pumpkins and maple syrup. We also will have a variety of Amish baked goods including pies, cookies, donuts and bread.
October is the wrap up month for the market! This is when you are able to stock up on all your favorite items until the 2025 market! With the holiday season, it doesn’t hurt to start thinking of gift ideas also!

Performers Needed For “Dickens on the Street”
Hamilton-Gibson Productions, in collaboration with First Position Dance Studio of Wellsboro, seeks performers to be part of two “Dickens on the Street” groups of performers who will appear at the festival in Wellsboro on Saturday, December 7. The groups will offer songs, poems, dances, and skits. No prior theater experience is needed, just a desire to join in and create engaging short outdoor performances that add to the charm and festivities of Dickens of a Christmas.
Causer, Dush Announce Cameron County Grant
Cameron County has been awarded a grant to rehabilitate its recreation center located in Emporium, Rep. Martin Causer (R-Cameron/McKean/Potter) and Sen. Cris Dush (R-25) announced today.
The $266,534 grant was awarded by the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority through its Multi-Purpose Facilities Grant Program. The money will be used to rehabilitate and renovate the recreation center into a modern, attractive, multi-use facility for area residents.

Stifel Financial Wealth Management Group Donates to St. Marys Area United Way

St. Marys, PA – The St. Marys Area United Way recently received a generous $1,500 donation from Stifel O’Leary Piccolo Launer and Fledderman Wealth Management Group. This contribution will help advance the organization’s efforts to meet its $220,000 fundraising goal for the upcoming year.
The donation was accepted by United Way representatives, including Jim Ryan, Vice President; Doug Bauer, Vice President; Doug Gaffey, Corporate Campaign Chair; and Jason Gabler, board member. The Stifel team, led by John Piccolo, presented the check at their Brusselles Street office, where they’ve been serving the financial needs of Elk County and surrounding communities for over 30 years.

Law Enforcement to Conduct Impaired Driving Enforcement this Weekend
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), the Pennsylvania DUI Association, and law enforcement agencies across western Pennsylvania will team up this weekend to conduct impaired driving enforcement activities in advance of Halloween.
