Michael R. Ackley, AKA “Digger”, age 71 a lifelong resident of Westfield, passed away on June 30, 2025 at UPMC Wellsboro.
Born March 2, 1954 in Wellsboro, he was the son of G. Roy and June (Roby) Ackley. He graduated from Cowanesque Valley High School, Class of 1972 and attended Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA. Mike was a hard worker and entrepreneur; he bought his first piece of equipment at the age of 24 and has owned and operated Ackley Construction for 48 years. He was all about taking chances in life and is well known for his many other businesses, Cathead Farms, Rusty Canon Motel & RV Park, Westfield Auto Center, Ackley Rentals and his partnership in the Old Antlers Inn. Mike was a mentor, who taught many young men & women work ethic, a constant community supporter and volunteered his work.
Above all else, he was a beloved father giving us guidance and advice. He was a member of the Coudersport Consistory, Westfield Masonic Lodge, National Cattlemens Association, Northern Tier Cattlemens Association, life member of Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, supporting member of CV Anglers Club, board member of Ackley Cemetery, FFA Keystone Degree holder and a Fifth Generational Owner of a Century Farm. He enjoyed playing softball, golf, bowling and hunting. Mike loved spending time on the farm and with his cattle.
Mike is survived by his mother, June Ackley of Westfield; sons, Dennis and Michelle Ackley of Westfield, Tom Ackley of Westfield, Tyler and Katie Ackley of Westfield and Arch Ackley of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Abby, Carter, Jacob, Chase and Luke Ackley; brothers, Phillip and Melanie Ackley and Steve and Marie Ackley as well as many extended family and friends.
Family will receive friends at Kenyon Funeral Home, 222 W. Main St., Westfield on Sunday, July 6th from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 7th at 10:00 AM with Marty Heyler officiating. Burial will be in Ackley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Mike’s honor to the Tioga County Fairgrounds, Beef Department, c/o Annette Miles, 118 Ferris Corner Rd., Little Marsh, PA 16950 or to the CV FFA, 51 North Fork Rd., Westfield, PA 16950. Arrangements are in care of Kenyon Funeral Home, Inc.
