Joan D. Armanini, 89, of 115 Fairview Road, Kersey and most recently 299 Ridgmont Drive, Ridgway, passed away peacefully Monday, June 2, 2025 at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
She was born July 31, 1935, in Ridgway, daughter of the late Raymond and Julia Sheeley Dinsmore. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Kersey High School, Class of 1953. She worked at various factories in the area and many years at the St. Marys Area Middle School cafeteria but she enjoyed caring for her home and family the best.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband William C. Gahr, who passed away in 1980. In 1986, Joan remarried Geno J. Armanini, who passed away in 2015. Also preceding her in death were her sisters: Catherine Johnston, Mary Lou Iorfido, Eleanor Krise, and Julia Marchiori; and brothers: Raymond and Charles Dinsmore. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Joan is survived by her loving son, Kevin Gahr and his wife, Marilyn, of Ridgway; three grandchildren: Kevin Gahr, Jr. (Arina) of Columbia, MD, Emmett Gahr of Ridgway, and Alexander Gahr of Ridgway; step-daughters: Barbara Gosselin (Gerry) of Virginia and Sandra Miller of Kersey; sister-in-law, Patty Gahr of St. Marys; and many nieces and nephews, some of whom are Godchildren.
Joan was a devout Catholic who prayed the rosary daily and a parishioner of St. Boniface Church. She enjoyed listening to music and visiting with family and friends. She was happiest cooking for her loved ones especially her son and grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 10:00AM with Rev. Justin Pino, celebrating. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the gathering space in St. Boniface Church from 9:00AM until the time of service.
Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to a favorite charity of one’s choosing.
