Sad day in the 14760. This morning, another Olean landmark – the “Conklin/Mountain House” that is listed on the National Historic Register – burned down. This house was first owned by the Conklin family who established the Conklin Wagon Works that made the horse-drawn wagons used for the westward expansion of the United States. This house is part of this history of Olean and the United States.
I hope it can be restored and that it won’t be knocked down. It’s too important.
