HG Auditions This Weekend

Hamilton-Gibson Productions is holding auditions for “She Kills Monsters” by Qui Nguyen, which will run the first two weekends in August. Auditions are Friday, May 15, at 6:30pm, Saturday, May 16, 10:30am, and Sunday, May 17, at 5pm in the Warehouse Theatre.
Director Cody Losinger, who previously directed “The Hobbit” and “Puffs” for HG, chose this play to coincide with Wellsboro Comic Con. After losing her parents and younger sister, Tilly, in an accident, Agnes Evans embarks on a journey in both this world and her sister’s fantasy game world attempting to find familial bonds that hadn’t existed. Wildly creative, fun, and full of heart, this play approaches important issues in a unique way.
“This play is different from the others that you may audition for,” Losinger says, “due to the role-playing aspect! The characters, such as Tilly for example, is a ‘real’ person in the world but her Dungeons and Dragons name is Tillius the Paladin. When the characters in the world of the show start playing Dungeons and Dragons, THAT world comes to life on the stage and starts to unfold. Filled with monsters and actual stage combat with swords, this is a show that calls to many.”
The roles include: Agnes Evans (20 – 35 year old female); Tilly Evans (15 – 18 year old female); Miles (20 – 35 year old male); Orcus/Ronnie (15 – 18 year old male); Vera (20 – 35 year old female); Chuck (15 – 18 year old male); Lilith Morningstar/Lilly (15 – 18 year old female); Kaliope Darkwalker/Kelly (15 – 18 year old female); Narrator (15 – 45 years old any age); Steve (15 – 18 year old male); Farrah (20 – 25 year old female); Evil Gabbi (15 – 18 year old male/female); and Evil Tina (15 – 18 year old female). For complete information about roles go to hamiltongibson.org/audition.
You do not need to prepare anything for auditions. Scenes from the show will be provided and no prior knowledge of Dungeons and Dragons is required to be a part of the show. “The best advice that I can give anyone auditioning for me would be, have fun and be yourself,” say Losinger. “Theatre is a safe space where one can really express themselves, and I uphold that wholeheartedly. If you are uncomfortable, I always encourage you to voice that to me, and I am happy to help you.”
Anyone who is unable to make auditions at the Warehouse Theatre, 3 Central Ave., Wellsboro, should contact the director at closinger.directs@gmail.com as soon as possible to schedule a time to audition. These are to not replace the auditions that are already scheduled and are for those who are physically unable to make the scheduled auditions times due to prior commitments.
