Franklin A. “Frank” Green, 79, A Lifelong Resident Of Richburg

Franklin A. Green “beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother”
RICHBURG, NY—Franklin A. “Frank” Green, 79, a lifelong resident of Richburg, passed away with his loving family by his side on Monday, April 20, 2026, in the Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY, after a long illness.
Born on Saturday, July 27, 1946, in Olean, he was a son of Cecil and Edwina West Green. In 1967 he married Georgeann “Gay” Young, who survives.
He was a graduate of Richburg Central High School. Frank served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War on Mediterranean Cruises attaining the rank of Sergeant.
Frank was employed as a mechanic for the Blue Bird Bus Company in Olean. For the majority of his working career he was employed by The LC Whitford Company in Wellsville.
He was a farmer by heart, raising chickens, cows and pigs. He enjoyed his yearly visits to the Allegany County Fair. He loved to drink Pepsi and eat vanilla ice cream.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 years, Gay; a daughter, Wendy L. Barkley of Warren, PA; a son, Lance F. Green of Friendship; three grandchildren, Caitlynn N. Barkley of Richburg, Justine P. (Spencer) Wallace, serving in the US Navy, and Franklin M. Barkley of Colorado; a sister, Judy (Leroy) Schweiger of Waverly, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by a grandson, Daniel James Barkley III; and a sister, Nancy Wilson.
Family and friends may gather from 1pm to 4pm on Sunday, April 26, 2026, and from 12pn to 1pm on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA. Funeral services will follow at 1pm with Pastor Clint Pearsall of the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, officiating. Burial with military honors, accorded by members of the Potter County Honor Guard, will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse, PA.

Frank’s family entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
