On August 8th, 2024 at approximately 1952 hrs City of Bradford Police Ptlm. Anthony Lama was on patrol and stopped at the Italian Festival event taking place on Festival Way in downtown Bradford. Officer Lama had approached the kids gaming area speaking with children and volunteers when he observed a male slumped over the wheel of a vehicle in the parking area of Tops Market. Officer Lama approached to perform a welfare check on the individual knocking on the window to awake the male and make sure he was not having a medical condition. The male awoke and took his foot off of the brake while the car was running and not in park. The vehicle took off forward striking barricades entering the festival area where there were many pedestrians enjoying the event.
Officers Lama and Milliron chased the vehicle on foot shouting at pedestrians including children to get out of the way. The vehicle crashed into a tent and tables area where children’s games were set up. Tables and barricades became lodged under the vehicle causing it to finally stop. Officers determined the operator Kenneth Marsh to be DUI and placed him into custody. The vehicle was extracted from the festival area and removed by tow truck. No one was injured in this incident. Officers charged Marsh with Reckless Endangerment, DUI, Driving on a DUI Suspended License, Obstruction of Administration of Law, and numerous traffic offenses. Marsh was arraigned by Magistrate Engman and remanded to McKean County Jail on $25,000 straight cash bail.
